i need some people to help me... if your interested yet still don't feel like reading all this crap scroll down to the last paragraph. I have been working on a few small projects these past few weeks and decided it's about time to start something big. I want to revamp the war3 system to make it more RPG friendly. The project itself would probably a map in itself, seeing as i will need some terrain space to carry out some of the ideas i have. So i guess instead of it being a RPGMOD it will be more of a RPG-template. Here are some of the features i thought about including. pls tell me what ideas you like best. Battle System: Turn Based : When you "encounter" an enemy the screen fades and you are teleported to a remote location to engage in battle one turn at a time. I might make it so that battles happen right on the map but that might scew up som maze-oriented areas of maps. Hero System: Abilities will be 90% trigger-based. Status effect will be done throught triggers as well because i have to incorporate effects like slow that woud change the order of attack. I might decide to make "spellbook" heroes if i can sucessfully convert the spellbook item to a hero-spell, if not that then i would have to do this with functions, but this would make it more JASS-oriented and even though a walkthrough of all the features would be included it might make it harder for people to make good maps. Multyplayer?: I might decide to make multiplayer compatability for maps where each player controls a seperate character. This would be a really cool feature but hard to implement (possible, but hard) and most of the maps in that style that i have played, blow. This would alsom make me hav e to re-think the Battle System. Item system: There will be two types of items, worldmap items and party items. wprld map items are used onr the worldmap (i'm really good at picking titles) such as teleporters and maps (see "other"). The party items will be used in - battle and in a part-customization area. Other: Map(s): Basically maps that you can look at to find where your goiong, done using fade-ins. Possible Ability Selection: I might make a way to select your hero's abilities (yes, selecting hero abilities). but this will make less storyline oriented games so this is a maybe if i make it multiplayer. The (hopefull) release will come include: RPGMOD (name pending) Template: basically what you will make your maps from. Everything will be organized in a way thatremoving features would be easy. A rundown of all the functions and step-by-step guides about how to use them. A map created using the RPGMOD system with commented triggers for easy browsing. and thats about it. If you are interested: I need people just like me so we can split-up jobs (i.e. one makes the ability systems, the other makes battle systems ect.) of course you need to have a way to communicate easily as we will need to give constant progress reports to avoid incompatibility. You NEED to know at least basic JASS, how to make functions ect. as this mod will be based primarily on functions, and you need to have at least some creativity. If we get this project off the ground, i will try to get it hosted by wc3c but i can't promise they won't point and laugh. |
