guys tell me what u think a good aos needs (i know there is one like this somewhere but i dont know where i saw it)

All but the first one. Custom skins/models don't really add much other than a big file size, imo. Bliz's models are fine, and we got like 2x more in TFT.

Gotta have the bottom three as Zoi said. I would rank it spells, pathing, and items from most important to least.

The Best AoS was the first ever made. It needs balanced heros and units, not necessarily custom items/spells, but ones that work with the characters/units, pathing, and terrain that doesn't bore the crap outta you. Its simple. And one other thing. AoS maps (my opinion, mebbe not urs) are funner and more challenging when there smaller, cuz dumb unexpected stuff can't happen while ur bored, walking huge distances all over the place, cuz u won't be!

i hear ya the i never like waling that huge distance to heal my character just to walk all the way back again

oh and just wondering i havent been using the TFWE so how many lvls can i hero actually gain (over the web)

i rember the first aos it was on SC it didnt have heros but they got around it in was pretty cool

I agree about the three, and interactive terrain. Now with the new stuff TFT WE has like rolling stone doors, levers, I think AOS maps should also take advantage of this. Also, I believe easy tomes shouldn't be in AOS games, as it makes offensive spells useless and agility heroes own. Also makes passive skills like bash too powerful.

I disagree with you here

The majority of people that join a game lets say for example named "NEW AOS GAME" all I see is, "any custom spells?" "is it cool?" "are the TFT heroes in this?"

People even dont like it when the fresh new TFT hero spells are still in the map, they just say "my hero has same spells"

I believe with the encounters I have daily on B.net is custom spells and eye candy is a MUST to spark those peoples interest then comes balance. though some of these people are childish annoyances who just think of "gimme gimme", if you like it or not the majority of B.net or good amount is stupid people, and unfortunately you have to please even the stupid ones

Simply what I think you should focus on

is 1 - Spells
then 2 - Balance

I have confirmation even from the stupid ones that still balance is a must

Do you mean the starcraft one? Cause I think that is the best one ever made. It was challenging and that (and uprising rpg) were the only 2 maps that kept me playing starcraft.

The first AOS ever made for warcraft 3 wasnt starcraft

starcraft was the first AOS based on like a different game or so, not warcraft units or theme (as in it used the starcraft units and considered it a starcraft AOS)

the first AOS I played and was way before starcraft AOS was Im guessing the real first AOS

it had one team base on the left one team base on right

3 lanes in a small map prob double digit x double digit

grassy terrain lordaeron summer tileset

the spawning units were archers and blood lieutenant model and stuff

EDIT:

I think this was first PVP AOS

I think a realy goos AOs has all force (or both force if there are 2) different and not only the skins and the heroes but the units, there skills and event there nimber. Non player controled units balaces are now easily testabla with option test map up to 25 time speed (test AI script : you put an empty one) and so thats easy to notice if during hours of games none of the bases wins...

Not starcraft AOS, The Aeon of Strife map that someone made for the game starcraft based on the Aeon of Strife in the starcraft timeline which had the protoss fighting against the protoss. THAT was the best (and first) aeon of strife map (in my opinion)

edit: i bet half the people who make AoS type maps don't even know what the aeon of strife is and probably havent played the Aeon of Strife map for starcraft. And I bet that if that map was instead about the Guild Wars (other major war in starcraft involving the terrans vs. the terrans) then people would be calling it a Guild Wars type map since the Aeon of Strife for starcraft was the first one.

ohhh yoda indeed indeed

I was talking in terms of warcraft 3

I did play AOS in starcraft long time ago, but dont remember sadly the layout of it:////

thats old school stuff, and yes its true.. alot of people playing warcraft 3 dont know the past where everything started

heck I tell people about the first PVP AOS map made for warcraft 3 and they were like "huh?"

ignorant dweebs I tell ya

guys just wondering is there a way of puting some randomness into my game like haveing different shops and random points in the aos were you get lots of gold suddenly or stuff like that (im sure there was something like that in SC with the triggs but not sure about WC3)
