Items that use mana

Is this possible? I'm trying to make a map (and campaign if the world I make is generally liked) where magic is not as common place as in the normal Warcraft universe. Here's my problem, I'm trying to make a Cleric (a normal unit with a backpack) have to use an item to heal. The item heals 500, has unlimited charges, but costs 200 mana and has 60 sec cooldown. Is this possible? The same thing would apply for my Wizard Hero, the hero would have passive skills but have to use spell books they find/buy to cast spells. Say a fireball that does 1000 dmg, but costs 500 mana and leaves the mage stunned for a few seconds. This seems rather complicated (for me at least) but I think it would make a much better world where magic is how I think it should be, scarce but powerful. Any help would be appreciated.

I figured out how to do it but in-game when it says to Left-Click to use (my unit does have enough mana) and I do it, it does nothing. What I did to make it work was make the healing a unit ability and stuck it to an item, so that the item required mana.

Use an item based on the Book of Spells. The item Book of Spells is almost exactly what you want. It is a permanent (no charges) and contains spells that require mana. You left-click the Book of Spells and the right-most interface (the one that normally has move, attack, hold position, etc. has spells to choose from instead. The default spell are entangling roots, dispel magic, and roar, but you can change them to whatever you like, even add your own spells. All of the mana cost and cooldown for the abilities can be edited in the abilities's properties in the FT object editor.

I am doing a similar thing for a map i am making. I a making it so you learn spells from pages that you find or buy. And as you get more pages you can learn more spells until you fill a book (11 pages = 11 spaces for spells.)

If you dont want to go through that anoying interface heres what I did. First make a unit ability based off the one you want to have as the charge or just edit the one you want. Then set the mana up for the spell. Then change the ability so that it is an item ability. Then create an artifact with that ability in presto a prem item that uses mana :).
