Question about uwv mapping

I want to make an uvw map appear as it does in this tutorial,

He gets to different uwv maps into the same uvw map edit window. HOW DO ONE DO THAT?

Editable mesh modifer, UMV Unwrap, UMV Mapping. Repeat this for every part of your umv map, then do a final edit mesh and UMV Mapping while everything is selected. Don't do another UMV Unwrap.
