Guest | Hi So, I have some problems in a map and I just can't solve them: 1. I put some purple night elves in the map, but when i test the map, these elves are red 2. The modifier of the duration of transmissions doesn't seem to work, not when I set it to "Add ..." nor "Set to ...", it's always the default 5 seconds. 3. The map should not be discovered when starting the game, so I set up a "Enable Black Mask" Action, but the map is discovered 4. How can I create a new custom hero? 5. How do i set up a KI? I looked through the FAQ and didn't these entries. Would be happy if someone could help :) |

Guest | 1. Make sure they are actually purple by double clicking on one of them and checking the owner. Also make sure that purple player is active in your map and has a start location. 2. Can't help you with this one , sorry. 3. I'm not sure about this one, but I think only single-player maps can be "undiscovered" on start. 4. Easy, just create a custom unit based on an existing hero. You can then change any parameter of the new hero within the WE except for the voice. You'll need some extra tools to do that. 5. Umm, what's a KI? |

Guest | 1. They are purple and i set it to User in the Player Properties, they have a start location. 3. It is a single player map 4. Thanks, I'll try :) 5. Oops, that the german abreviation :D It's AI And it should be for a single player map. I forgot another thing: 6. Why is my HUD the undead one, but I set the Orcs as User control? |

Guest | 1. Go to the Player properties and Forces properties, check all the checkboxes about fixed start locations etc. 3. Go to the Map Properties (where you set the loading screen, etc.), in one window should be a checkbox for the Black Mask. Check the box. 5. You can't script custom AI yet afaik. Try using the default Melee AI initialisation trigger action. |

Guest | The reason your elves have changed colour and your HUD is the wrong one, is because you haven't ticked the second checkbox in the forces window - scenario -> forces -> fixed player settings I had this problem for ages until I realised this :) As for the duration of the transmissions I had this problem too, so I just split the transmission into two directly after each other. Hope this helps, Sheep of Doom |

Guest | Thanks a lot :D The elves are purple now, I have Black Mask, a new hero and the right HUD. Hm, I think splitting the transmissions is a bit strange... anyone knows how to solve this? And there must be a way to set up AI...or I'll do it with conditions :D |

Guest | I have just found that you can extract the ai scripts using a mpq program such as winmpq (available on the tools page), edit the AI scripts and insert them back into the map with the blink editior also available on the tools page. Currently I am having trouble reinserting files though. |

Guest | Hmmm, I get error messages when trying to extract the rars of WinMPQ... and I can't run the files. Are they really damaged or is it this administration/authority stuff? |

--- For the transmissions, are you using the (No Sound) option. I think that may always default to 5 seconds. Try using a blank sound or one of the built in sounds (import them in Sound Editor) and then just adding the duration to what you want. |
