Replays Causing Long Save times

Has anyone else had issues with very long save game times? WC3 automatically saves a replay for your map, but the problem is, as the game progresses the save times increase as well...

As a test, i made a blank map with just one unit on it. Just after the game loads, I did an F6 (autosave). Autosave took just under 2 seconds. The for the duration of the next minute, I issued repetitive commands to my single unit, move here and there over and over, then saved again after 1 minute. Quick Save took 4 seconds.

After repeating the Quick Save, and issuing multiple commands over the course of a minute, the quick saves take about 1-2 seconds longer each time.

Normally this isn't a big issue, however, in the bigger RPG type maps that ive made, the average game time is 4-20 hours of playtime. After playing one map for 4 hours its pretty crucial to be able to save the game. If the game save times take 5-10 minutes users will think the game has crashed and deliver the CTRL-ALT-DEL salute. Many times the game does crash too.

In one specific RPG type map that I'm working on, the player will typically kill 20-40 enemy units every minute. (it's intense) The save game times after even 30 minutes of play time are unbearable.

My question is, is there any way to disable the automatic replay save that WC3 does?
