What causes the bug in cube defense/footman wars/spiral defense?

I'm talking about the one that causes the building cursor not to show up, meaning you cant see where you're building. It also seems to cause health bars and other tooltips not to show up.

It must have something to do with the defeat triggers in those maps, because the only times it takes effect is after someone loses.

It happens in solo games as well, and it also happens in spiral TD after a certain about of time. So it isn't the death triggers, and its only a TFT problem. My brother speculated it was after a certain number of units were created, causing a memory overflow somewhere.

Yes, I've experienced this in maps such as Footman Wars and Zoator TD, even when players don't leave, so I'm not sure it's with that. I think the above poster has a point, seeing as how there are tons of units constantly created in these maps, and it doesn't really happen until really later on, so I'm not really sure.

I don't think it's a trigger problem, because in Footman Wars, it still happens even when no players leave and there aren't really any triggers that would cause it...

It is happening in my map as well. The map is a Kings and Knights type. (4 players with regular bases, 6 with just heroes, in case you've never played one.)

Never in the map is any unit created en-mass, so I don't think that is it. But the food limit is upped to 150...

It only happens far into the game, so I'm also thinking it has to do with the defeat triggers. Most of the other triggers have been run at least once by then, and I can't think of anything else that would cause it.

I've got a replay of it happening, so I'll go check and see if it does it while I'm watching...

Edit: Doh, scratch that. I've stupidly edited the map, and didn't keep a backup. War3 won't lemme watch it with the changed map.

I know that in cube defense 4.8 it constantly happens when someone leaks. It ALWAYS happens when someone loses, and no other time. If only there were an unprotected version it would be pretty easy to find the problem...

Another thing. this bug is in RoC as of patch 1.10, and it has been in the frozen throne beta ever since version 306 around.

proberbaly a hard coded bug in blizzard that stop u from seeing tool tips and stuff maybe it will be fixed by blizz

The bug appears when a player is defeated by triggers. Not unit massing, not large numbers, not blah blah but players getting defeated by triggers.

Uhh lots of maps kill players with triggers, and only a few have this problem... How do you explain that LordAllout?

Maybe that TD map had an individual problem and its spread across many maps because every TD is a rip off of 3-4 tds.

The bug is when a player that is not there is defeated through a trigger. It just happened, and I had a bunch of text popping up telling me what the triggers were doing.

It happened right after a defeat trigger fired for a player that wasn't there. Nothing happened a few seconds earlier, when the player was defeated the first time.

Sure thats right? B4 in my footman war it would defeat only a single player, and the tooltips would still vanish.

Yeah, it happens in one of my maps everytime a player who has left/ wasn't there to begin with is defeated, there could be more causes though. maybe adding a ((Owner of (Dying unit)) slot status) Equal to Is playing on to the defeat trigger will fix it, I've not got time to test it now though....
