Is there a way to control the position and if possible, color of the onscreen text? I'm trying to get a message to appear immediately above a particular unit (in particular, an RPG-style damage display). If there's no way to do this, can anyone else think of any way to achieve the desired effct? So far, I've tried recreating the critical hit effect, but there's no way for me to alter it to 100%, x1 damage, and even if I could, I don't believe I can then have the map be played multiplayer on b-net (is there a way???) One last possibility is creating 10 units or doodads, or tiles or something, each one looking like a digit. Does this sound like a viable idea, or will this too disable muliplayer? |

Guest | sure you can color text.but what are you trying to make a spell like critical strike????? |

In a perfect world, I'd like to duplicate the critical strike effect for all damage to a unit (all damage numbers appear over the damaged unit's head regardless of wether a critical strike is involved). I'm trying to duplicate the "floating number effect" used in RPG's like Final Fantasy to indicate damage. Since "critical strike" isn't per se an effect (at least in the same sense that, say, whirlwind is) my next best option is to finagle the same effect in another way. So one thing I'd like to try is to have the damage dealt appear as a message on screen. But it looks pretty lame if it appears in the lower left corner above the mini-map. Ideally the message appear directly over the damaged unit, if possible Another use, if such an ability exists, would be to create "comic book" style dialogues, with text-containing "dialogue balloons" over each speaking character in turn. |

OOOO! The users jefs posted something along this lines, and I think he has the right idea! I'm pretty sure that the damage thing is an "animation tag" but I have NO clue how one would implement that kind of thing. |
