Custom Version of Berserk Upgrade...

My dilemma is that I am having problems editing the Berserker Upgrade ability. Okay I'll explain all of it...


1) Created a new Upgrade called Paladin Upgrade which upgrades Knights to Paladins (gee I wonder where that came from =))

2) Created the custom ability based off of Berserker Upgrade to make the new unit a Paladin.

3) Changed the techtree - dependency equivalents to Paladin of the Knight, and gave him the Techtree - Upgrades Used upgrade Paladin Upgrade, and I gave him the Paladin Upgrade ability.

4) Made it so that the Barracks had the ability to research the Paladin upgrade, and the ability to build paladin's.

5) It just does not work. The Knight and the Paladin are displayed as two different icons in the menu of the barracks. The Paladin is even able to be built before ever researching Paladin Upgrade.

Okay okay...that's about it. Oh yah, additional info:

1) The Paladin and the Knights were custom made units with custom skills and crap, so was the barracks.

2) I tried matching things to The Troll Headhunter and Troll Berserker as well as the Orcs Barracks but to no avail.

3) Under the Paladin/Troll Berserker Upgrade, what is the "Effect 1 - rtma" effect? You can't reselect it after you change it...

you could make a trigger that when you research berserk it would disable the ability to build knights when it enables paladins. So you would only be able to build knights... not sure about the other stuff.

Rtma basically means, "We are lazy at blizzard and didn't have time to implement this." That could be the whole source of your problems.

Also, make sure that in addition to specifying tech requirements you also have "Check tech requirements" set to true. The paladin shouldn't be able to be built right away if you've specified the upgrade has to be research and to check techs.

You mean "Techtree - Check Dependencies" under the ability "Paladin Upgrade"???? If so that's already set to True.
