Changing Animation of Starfall

I'm having a bit of a problem attempting to change the projectiles and casting animation for an ability I modeled after Star Fall. If anyone has any idea how to do this, I would appreciate the help.

I was thinking taking some spell like Rain of Fire, Blizzard, et cetera, and changing the statistics to Star Fall. I attempted to alter the original Star Fall ability, buuuuuuut it didn't work too well. Also, I just use the Object Editor from the TFT World Editor, and I was wondering if I should continue using this, or some other methos...? I have no idea how to tamper with SLKs, and I find the Object Editor easy to manipulate...

I know that in Defense of the Ancients, the Frost maiden could cast a Blizzard spell that worked similar to star fall, but this was pre-TFT and the same methods cannot be used... But, I know it can probably be done. Thanks.

You have to tamper with the SLK's.
I know you must download a program to open the MPQ, I use WinMPQ. I have so far figured out how to edit them but I don't know how to get them to work with the editor. Once I figure that out, I'll be good to go.

using winMPQ, extract the file "nightelfabilityfunc.txt" and go to the starfall entry. change the art there and import the file into the map under units/nightelfabilityfunc.txt.

Not to sound like an ignorant fool, but where do you get WinMPQ? Did it come WITH WCIII, and if so, how do I access it?

ok first get a mpq opener i like techmpq i beleive its in the downloads section.

THEN thet the nightelfabilityfunc.txt it is in the War3x.mpq then open it with notepad find starfall.

there will be somthing about target art NOW u have to change Abilities\Spells\NightElf\Starfall\StarfallTarget.mdl to the mdl of your chose say the infernal birth with is i beleave Units\Demon\Infernal\Infernalbirth.mdl.

Then in the world editor go the the import manager import the file and use a custom path for it THE PATH HAS TO BE
Units\Nightelfabilityfunc.txt

test the map do the spell if it didnt work try again i mess up sometimes to

I was wondering how to do the exact same thing, thank you. Now, does this hold true for all spell effects? My lightning ward (which you helped me on thank you) is being stubborn and I can't seem to make its projectile a jolt of lightning from the Chain Lightning spell. The only difference is that I want the attack of the lightning ward to resemble the Chain Lightning spell and not change an ability. Also, how do you locate slk files? I'll do some trial and error, but a few solid facts would be very much appreciated. Thank you again. :D
