Well, I am starting a new map, It will be a racing map where you can choose betwen 7 different models (Siege Engine, Steam Tank, Infernal Juggernaut, Demolisher, Infernal machine, Glaive throwler and Meat wagon) You will use the arrow key to move (Up to start advancing, If your mana bar is full you can use up for a boost, Left and Right to change direction, Down to stop and down while stopped to attack! ) The controls are currently working (TFT new events Rock!) But I still need to start doing the terrain and the rules. So here is where The questions start: I am wondering what should I do with the frag system: I have two options Making the tanks weak but they come back to the checkpoints after dying or making them uber Strong but when They are destroyed = Game over. About the terrain How do you like races? Circuit or Line? Please the Poll is for more than one choice but don't choice two options for the same answer edit: For some odd reason I couldn't post a poll in this thread. Answer the questions in replies. |

I say uber-strong so it takes more skill. It's not hard to die and get respawned. I would sugget circuit, because if it's a line it tends to be more boring. Thats my 2 cents. |

Guest | I would say do it like mario kart have it so they "Spin Out" when you hit them with something but all they have to do is resume after the spin out proccess |

Sounds good, Hope There is an event to detect when somebody is hit by an attack ground. |

Sounds fun; I like your choice of models. Although I'd make one of them the Orc Juggernaut boat model. I like the idea of a circuit with laps. That's sort of the traditional racing style, and it allows players to get the hang of the racetrack the first time around so there aren't surprises later. Are you going to have power-up-like things in your race, where racers can pick them up (i.e. by passing over them or somesuch)? Also, I'm generally for the option that lets you respawn or just get kicked to the side when you die. That's because I really don't like the maps where you lose when you lose your hero right away. It's harder to get people to keep trying your map if they can't get very far into it. |

I agree with the circuit with laps. Also you should vary the terrain and have it effect the tank's movement speed. Like in most race games. For instantance if they drive through shallow water, have the tanks movement speed cut down some then back to normal when their back on solid ground. Just a thought. I like the powerup Idea too. I'd also suggest maybe adding some towers to attack the tanks on various sections of the track. Like at a cross road, if they choose the shorter path, they have to face the towers, if they choose the longer path, they don't. Make stuff interesting. As far as recognizeing a tank hitting each other. I'd suggest useing a "point with offset" trigger. The point being the tank. Whenever another tank gets close, like 0.5,0.5 or something it'll recognize the contact. Sounds cool and good luck, Method |

i'd suggest trying to get speeds over 400 first... a long while ago in RoC i did a racing map, but it was kinda lackluster cause u really didn't go all that fast... btw, i'd also suggest making it like rock and roll racing, u know, with guns and mines that u can buy... or whatever |

It is certainly possible to get out of 400 speed with windwalk. But I am thinking of creating the Illusion of speed with small models - Terrain and a zoomed camera, after I experiment the stuff I will tell you. There will be powerups that will do a lot of different things: like letting you place a goblin land mine, Stasis traps, Lighting shields, Speed boosts, and the things I will think later, Thanks for the suggestions. |

I was actually thinking that a racing game would be a good idea last night, here's my thoughts: Why not have 3 types of racers? - Hero racers (Priestess, Death Knight, Archmage, Far Seer) who are medium racers. - Heavy racers (Demolisher, Glaive Thrower, War Engine, Meat Wagon) that can bump guys and cause damage, are high in health, high traction, but are slower. - Light racers (Huntress, Knight, Raider, Obsidian Statue) that are fast, but have low health and traction. In some races, you could use Icecrown Tilesets and have an icy path, so that guys will keep going after they release the gas. Thus, the need of traction. A WC3 racer is a good idea. |

I think vex is going more for the Car-Type models to make it seem more like racing. |

Imagine "racing" a PotM...Lol... the feet would like either not move and just glide or just speed up and look like something out of a corny film...hehehehe... Annnyway...back on subject: The idea seems like a VERY GOOD idea and I hope it becomes successful, so if you need any help im here! |

Guest | Nice idea with the racing system also i think u should make like water or something them make them go slower like method said cus that would be cool. The circuit is good with 3 laps and make the guy just slip to the side instead of getting killed. P.S. good luck, keep up the good work!:infth: |

Give the cars ability to pick up powerups that can be used only once like (from Item Inventory) like Ensnare, AMS, Slow, Aura Items, etc. Let the cars shoot! Slows them down, but if you hit(!) Other guy slowed; eventually; BOOM! |

For the speed system, what I'm thinking of is have a second version of each car, which has the ethereal ability, which will make it half invisible, then set tinting to like 150-150-150, and use that as a trail, for the car, cause to go over the 520 (windwalk) you will need to hide/unhide the car, along a line so the trails will hide that =). Beware, If you want this to be fun, you will need acceleration, and braking, which can be hard to trigger. cheers, desty |
