Cities of Fire (New Map Idea)

Allright well, I got this great idea for a new style of DoTA/AoS with some strategy mixed in together with all of it.. No longer are you requires to hack and slash the other team to destroy their town hall, tree or whatever.. Now you must work as a team and build your own town before you would even want to try and do that.

You start off with the ability to choose up to 10 different jobs or classes. Each class is very unique and when used right can be very powerful.. The ten classes that each side can choose from are.
  • Engineer
  • Construction worker
  • Miner / Lumberjack
  • Defender
  • Alchemist
  • Mage
  • Blacksmith / Armorer
  • Attacker / Commander
  • Thief
  • Medic / Healer

Now.. Seeing as how this will be 5 on 5.. You can't have every single guy on here... Some of the jobs also look boring as well.. But fear not, they aren't!

The Miner/Luberjack's main skills rotate around his job description.. Like.. He has a skill that can recruit a townsperson around him and turn them into a lumberjack or turn one into a miner. Which brings me to the townspeople...

Yes, I said townspeople.. Why are there townspeople? Your town will be alive, it is your main source of income next to going out and defending the landscape from the other city and all that good stuff. This will be your text money collection and this will make your city grow.

You get townspeople by building houses, only a construction worker can build houses.. But you don't *need* a construction hero to do this.. You can buy construction workers from the main town hall to do this for you.. But it's costly this way. The construction hero can recruit kind of like a miner / lumberjack hero can townspeople to be construction units.

All skills will be related to that unit.. And building that unit up will be a necesity... Each hero will gain experience based on what unit type it is.. If you are a defender.. You get extra XP for defending a fleet of bad guys that come stomping in your territory.. If you are an engineer, you gain XP for upgrading building types and the main town hall and everything. It all comes back to your profession.

I already have it planned out how I'm going to make this competitive and I already have the economic system planned out as well. No problems in either of these areas.

To gain advantage over your opponent, have an attacker go and sabotage some buildings and some townspeople. Put to sleep a couple of workers or ensnare them so they can not perform their duties.. All things are possible.

Please... Give me some more ideas and hints at this.. Skill ideas per race and everything are being accepted and I thank you for helping in any way possible that you can.

Maybe you should have gold mines spreaded throughout the map, and the two teams would fight over them. That would make it kind of competitive.:D

It's not the difficulty that will shy me away.. it's terraining that does... I hate terraining.. ERrrrgg... hehehe..

I mean.. I'll do it.. if I have the time.. But if I just wnat to start triggerring and making units and all that other good stuff... Then hell no.. I don't want to.. hehe... :)

Basically though.. I got about 2/3's of the map done mapping wise.

Sounds awesome, maybe the defender can get wards for spells

The attack get summons

The builder get summons that summon buildings, or maybe he can summon the items that make buildings

The Miner... I dunno, perhaps he can transform into a goblin shredder type thing metamorhpasis style

What does the egnineer and Blacksmith do exactly?

The Alchemist... Turns plant items that yu cud have spawn all over into potions and stuff

Mage... Seems pretty simple... maybe you could give him more widespread spells, like a giant rain of fire or sumthing with lower damage

Theif- give him wind walk without invis, just speed, and make him need to use hide more wisley, this way it wont be sooooo simple to sneak around

Medic- Um.. I guess just give stuff like holy light, healing wave, healing ward and tranquility, only edited, u know?

Well there u go.. I dont expect u to use any of these, but use what u want

Yeah.. Thanks bud... But as soon as I started thinking about the heros and how they could be played.. I backtracked a little and made it more solid...

So.. I crossed off a few classes and made some more obvious choices.. And changed around the map style a little tiny bit.

Now.. Instead of it being just two cities.. and having the same class choices and everything.. They are two distinctive cities... Fighting over the land mass...

Humans and the Orcs.... They duke it out to save what land is left.. So instead of two human cities fighting.. It's mixed race... Now.. Each side will have similar classes... But now it's not "job-like".. Where one might be boring over the other.

There will be a 4 on 4 split.. 4 attacking type units and 4 defending / maintaining type units in each race... More will be added in later versions.. But for now.. 8 classes per race is pretty good.

The 4 attacking units will be unique in their own mind and world.. Spells will be elaborate and drawn out (final versions that is) and everything will coerce with that unit and race. SO no bloodlust on the Humans.. hehe.. :)

I don't know any of the classes off the top of my head and my notebook is laying in at work.. So you'll have to wait til tomorrow night to hear the breakdown.. hehe

Hmm... I'd like to get together with you on this... I do a lot of idea thinking and I think we could crack some other wonderful ideas. Since you have the basic system down, we just need to add ideas now...

I can also make spells, spell effects, and other trigger driven things while you make the whole "map". How about it? (I expect no credit I just need some pass-time)
