Hi everyone. I've recently come onto a keen interest in making cinematics. And I decided to start out with something simple. I guess you could say i'm a fan of LotR. So i decided to copy a short little clip from the first movie to practice cinematics.

I did the "The Passing of the Elves" scene. I dont know, i think i did a fairly decent job on it. Only problems are that frodos head looks real stupid in the first part when hes laying down. and secondly i couldnt find the music they used in that scene so i just used a different one that worked out well.

So if some of you could just check it out and tell me if i'm on the right track, i would be very happy.

Ok you can get the file here : http://www.dandmdesign.com/WoodElves.w3x

3.51 MB for something this short... I'll have to admit that the terrain was good, but it was just too short.

BTW: Frodo's head freaked me out. He had no neck and he turned 90 degrees 0_o

i like i--or whatever it is so far. it was very short. try to post something w/ a decent amount time...what i mean is make it longer before you post something. its hard to judge soething that is so short. but so far, its decent. the terrain was beautiful, and the music was good as well. but you really should change frodo's neck. it doesnt look natural.

umm.. as far as doing a remake of LotR... i discourage it. the main reason is that they already did a good job on the movie, and it is going to be really hard to make it just as, or even better then they already did. so i suggest that you make your own movie. you can still take the influence of LotR, but dont make it exactly the same.. most of us have seen it, and it would be rather boring to see it again. thats just my opinion, but some ppl out there might agree w/ me.

so basically, gj, but dont copy LotR completly. you can start off like it, but change the plot...

yeah, I know about his head... i just spent too much time already on the map today... (my only day that is...) but i see what you mean about the short. i guess you could say i was over excited... But dont worry i dont plan on remaking the LotR, because like i said, this was my first cinematic.

Thanks for the feed back! :D

(ps, i like this formum so much better than the warcraftiii.net forums... i would have been flamed 7.4 million times about how frodo didnt look like frodo, and a rock wasnt in the right spot or something. thanks guys )

LOL!

Imagine in a dark night sky, and everything's silent. He zooms in into a kid, and then the head of him faces right into the camera with freaky music. GOD THAT WOULD BE SCARY!

wow, that was cool. i cant wait to see more of ur work. I know it wasnt very long but still i liked it. i think its a good idea to copy stuff in your first cinematics. It makes you try different stuff and more complex techniques if u copy a movie. gj anyways 4 out of 5 for a first cin.
