Always had trouble with beach terraining

Fragmentation
I basically need to know the way to smoothly lay out a beach, terrain-wise

First I initially tried to make deep water then using the lower terrain tool to lower the edges of the cliff to go under water etc. that didn't work

Then I tried making deep water and then upping the ground height of the ground below the water, I think this worked but I basically had trouble coinciding naturally with the ground already on level height

I then tried upping and lowering shallow water, didn't look natural like the beach terrain I saw on maps

What am I doing wrong or missing out on

any help is appreciated

Thanks!

We would need to see a pic of some of the terrain first, so then we could tell you what you are doing wrong and help you.

um... what i do is:

make deep water (the ocean)
make an island
make shallow water along the island
make make the cliffs along the island into ramps
lower the edge of the shallow water to gradually go into the deep water.

Make deep water there where you want the water to be. Uncheck Tools -> Advanced -> Enforce Water Height Limits or whatever it's named.
Make the water into ground by using "same level" in the terrain palette. Now you can Lower the terrain in the areas where the water was and there you go -> a smooth water cliff.

thats not how you do it...

you make the whole map deep or shalow water then USE THE RAISE HEIGHT tool (you know the button that looks like a blue hill) until it's not in the water anymore

=) good luck
