Im pretty sure an mdl is the combination of a model and skin and i would like to know why i should or shouldnt use them and how to make them

I saw that cookie was combining wc3models (like the grom with frostmourne) But i was wondering how he got the frostmourne skin to stick with the sword when he put it on the Grom, did it just stay on the sword (i know it wasnt its own model)

MDL is an uncompressed, editable model.

MDX is a compressed, uneditable model.

Models do not store textures, just the path.

Depends on what mdl you're talking about. If it's a mdl spawned from yobguls, it's an editable model. If if's a mdl created by Warcraft III, it's the combination of the skin in the model.

Regardless, you can't import yobgul mdls and the mdls generated from Warcraft technicly don't exist, and you wouldn't be able to use them anyway, so you're stuck with the mdx, which isn't a bad thing, persay.

So how do you edit the mdl's and getting them working ingame? I was thinkin that you convert it with yobguls, edit what you want, convert to mdx, add the new mdx to your map, and rename it to whatever you edited? Am I compleatly off track?
