Can't find the SLK files

Hi

I can't seem to find any SLK files. I have tried searching my hard drive for the file, the Warcraft III folder, plus I dont even have a Warcraft III/Units folder. Can anyone help me out? thanks in advance

To find the SLK and Abilities files you need to download an MPQ program which will allow you to open the Blizzard MPQ files in your main Warcraft Directory. There should be a list of tools in the Editing Tools forum here.

You can either use WinMPQ or TechMPQ as both are very good MPQ programs. I use TechMPQ so my explaination of how to get these SLK files will be different I think than someone who uses WinMPQ.

For TechMPQ:

1). Open up the TechMPQ program.
2). Click on "List\Extract Multiple Files"
3). In the "MPQ Archive" space click "browse" and locate the mpq. If you're using TFT it's the war3x.mpq file, if you're using RoC then it would be either the war3.mpq or the war3patch.mpq
4). Where it says "Listfile" click browse and open up you TechMPQ folder and select the "War3.MPQ" text file.
5). Now there should be a big long list of all the files in that MPQ. You can scroll all the way to the bottom of the list to find the SLK files or you can filter them using them filter on the right.
6). Click on "Units\Unitabilities.slk" and click extract.
7). Choose the folder where you want to save the SLK file and voila! You can now go into the folder you specified and use Excel to edit that SLK.

If someone with WinMPQ wants to help out by all means do so. My WinMPQ doesn't work cuz some .dll file was missing.
