Guest | This might make me black listed on these forums, but is there a way to remove map protection (namely, the one off this site.) |

Where do you think a protection is for? To be removed? |

Guest | The point of a map protection is to protect a map. I think Zepir's editor has the ability to remove the protection if it's password protected by entering the password. If it's your own map and you protected it using a non-password (aka permanent) protection and don't have a backup - well... you're ****ed. |

Guest | I believe it has already been mentioned, that all you did was remove a file necessary for loading in WE, but not needed for actual gameplay, therefore crashing WE. But i wouldn't know how to go about fixing it, AND, being as this isnt a tool related question (how often have people asked, "how do i edit spells", and been referred to mpq editing?) i felt it more appropriate to be placed here. |

first time i disabled a protection, i just compared the files in the .w3m to another .w3m to see what was changed. rather simple to bust your protection weaaddar, though it was a nice tool to stop noobs who couldn't get mpqview or bigmpqspecific to work...and those who couldn't import files because they knew not how to use MPQ2k. |

Guest | I like to add map "protection" myself. Weaaddar barly made a map "protection" program, it is more like a GUI that does a method through mpq2k. The world editor just doesnt like a .w3g file with nothing written on it. To remove "protection", you just delete the .w3g file in there. However, you are still screwed because you have to read the triggers in blizzard's JASS langauge through the .j file. BTW, the reason I write protection in quotation marks, is because the map isn't really protected with some sort of encryption. It only tricks the world editor into crashing. |

which confuses noobs...the main purpose of weaaddar's 'protection'. experienced people with the skills to edit the game easily and have basic knowledge of .mpqs are a bit more likely to make their own work than a noob who just wants their name known for another's work. |

bingo diablo. ;-p if they want to rip someones work maybe if they ask nicely this website will host zips of the actual campaign maps taken fromt eh mpq ;-p that will let their triggers... to tell ya teh truth thats how i learned mos tof the triggering ;-p |

What's even worse, back in my n00b days, when i used to make hero arenas and no maps from scratch (like Dungeon Keeper, check it out on www.wegod.vze.com !) i got quite famous on the northrend gateway for a couple of weeks (NUCLEUS hero arena) and now some people are just using my map creating name (NUCLEUS) for their maps! Even though i haven't written them, and the maps from the stealin peeps usually sucks, thus giving me a bad name! By the way, what do you guys think of my avatar? :D :D |

I guess its basically those smart enough to remove the protection, are normally the ones that wont go around with someone elses map, claiming it to be their own... |
