ok i know how to attach special effects and all that, but when i attach a special effect to a unit (like attaching a sword to its left hand) and destroy it, it takes like 10 seconds to dissappear, or sometimes doesn't ever go away. How can i get rid of special effects instantly?!?!? for example, i have it set up to create a sword special effect when a hero picks up the item "sword" and destroy the special effect when he drops the item... i've tried resetting their animaton, deselecting and reselecting them, and nothing will work... the only thing that probably would work would be replacing the unit with a duplicate one, but that would be really difficult i think. anyone know a way that works properly? |

The only way I could think of would be to save the sword effect as a variable, and then use "Special Effect - Destroy Special Effect". |

I think the problem is that your weapon doesn't have a death animation- the same thing happens with units that don't have a death animation, they just sit there for a few seconds. So, if you have modeling skills, try adding death animations to your weapons. |

Maybe I've gotten this wrong, but I thought Leppy meant that he used the action "Attach special effect to unit" to simulate a sword, without changing the model/skin. If it is the way I took it, there shouldn't even exist any death animations in the first place. Or am I wrong? |

i meant what pirogen said... maybe i'm wrong but i don't think special effects have death animations... they are usually just one animation... emote_confused if i can make this work then i can have a system where you can equip items and they show up on your character, i've only tried it for weapons and shields, but someone could make a map with a close to naked base unit as your character, then have equippable armor/clothes/whatever. :D but i dont know how to model, so i just use freebies. :bgrun: |

<shrug> I was just posing a guess- many things used as special effects, missiles and the such, do have a death animation to show that they have impacted. Is the weapon a custom model? (and if not, what's the path? I can't find any good sword models...) |
