Guest | First of all I know how to edit the appropriate .txt files and get a new map to default to whatever you want. My problem is I've read about people making up to 512x512, but I can't seem to get anything larger than about 100,000 cells to work. I started with a 384x768, then ended up having to reduce it down to 224x448 before it would work. And by work I mean anything larger actually crashes the World Editor when it's doing the initial map creation (i.e., after you select new and hit OK). I've got 640 Mb of RAM on this box, with 30+ Gb of free hard drive space. What is the problem? We did a 8 player on the 224x448 this morning and it was epic...took forever to cross the map, but it would be nice to have it larger still. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, and take care. |

Guest | limit is 480X480, higher crashes. At 480X480 bligt will not work, so its unfair for UD players. |

Guest | ui/worldeditdata.txt Change default map size to be 384,384. [EDIT - don't know why I put 480,480] There are lots of old threads about this. If you do a search it should provide you with a more detailed explanation. Care. |

Guest | GL with it, Its REALLY not recommended to make a map its size that big. Also, you can tchange the map description etc, which you need Zepirs editor to cahnge it That proggie is for more advanced users, so if you dont know much about WE then you will have a hard time using Zepirs one =) |

Guest | Actually if you edit ui\worldeditgamestrings.txt, you can change what the default map name, description, owner, etc., is. Care. |

480x480 is the max limit War3 supports. But BE AWARE OF A BIG ISSUE WHEN DOING SUCH BIG MAPS!!! It appears undeads can't make blight on those maps! Check your map with undeads before spending too much time on it! ;) |

Guest | Well i dont care about the blight problem because its an RPG =). Thanks for the help. |

with a map that big, it will take a long time to use the unit editor. but i guess you could just download the unit editor thingy for faster unit editing... |

Guest | Yes, using the unit editor is best accomplished on a tiny test map as small as you can get it (32x32 I believe). I went from having 5 second delays per entry to 2 second delays. Also, weeaddar [sp?] suggested that the layer palette be turned off as well. Care. |
