I've been havin some trouble lately trying to import skins in my map. I've been using the Import Manager on the WorldEdit, imported it as the instructions go from wcwarehouse, and then I used the Unit pallette to put the skins in. I got the models in fine, in the WorldEdit they show up perfectly, but when I load the map in the Frozen Throne they're back to their original skins again. What can I do? |

I had trouble with this when I did my first skin. Some of the tutorials were confusing. I'll do my best to explain it step by step. Ok lets start with your modified .blp file that you are ready to import into the game. You need to make the same path in your WarCraftIII folder for the .blp as the one that you extracted it from. Lets take the Jaina.blp for example. If you look with your extracting program of choice, you have to open several folders to reach the Jaina.blp. The first folder is Units the second folder is Human and the third folder is Jaina . You need to remake these folders inside your WarCraftIII folder. Its important to double check the names, they need to be spelled correctly. If you named the folders Unit or Humans its not going to work. Now you should have the folders made and your Jaina.blp inside the Jaina folder. Open the Import Manager then click on File and select Import File. Now you need to select the Jaina.blp and then click open. You should now notice an entry in the Import Manager that should say " Jaina.blp Image/Texture 50 War3mapimported\Jaina.bmp" Right click on the entry and select "Modify File Properties." Now check the box "Use Custom Path" The line above it becomes editable. You need to change the path to match the orginal BLP path which will be the same as the folders that you created. So for the Jaina.blp you would change the line to read: Units\Human\Jaina\Jaina.blp Once again make sure you watch the spelling and don't use spaces. Once you are finished click ok, then save your map. This has always worked fine for me. I haven't had the need to use multiple skins for one model so I can't help you out there. I did see some tutorials, that could help if thats what you need. |

I've had that part down, it's no problem to import skins. The thing is that when I place the units in WorldEdit they show up like they should, but once I open my map in the Frozen Throne game they revert back to their old skins again. |

I would suggest you double check your path. You can see the new skin on any map. Make a new map and see if your units show up in the units Palette. If so this makes me think you have them in the proper folders otherwise it wouldn't automaticly swap the new skin for the default. The problem looks to be with how you import the skin. When you import make sure you spell everything correctly and leave out spaces. One tiny error here will cause the computer to look in the wrong place for the file, it won't find it and use the default skin. Make sure you save once you finish importing the skin. |
