Lets say you put one of those models in the units folder in your map, to get it to show up in the world editor (look ingame and the models and skins work, trust me) put that model into a folder you crate in your warcraft 3 directory called units, and do this with every other model, wherever you put them. |

Does anyone even know where a tutorial is to the import manager in WC3:TFT? I'd very much like to add a new structure that I've modeled, but I'mt otally clueless how to get it from 3DSMax into WC3:TFT, I've read all kinds of tutorials using all kinds of funky third party programs, I've tried exporting it (Came out successful) then converting it (Said it was succfessful), but when I import the model, the import manager IMMEDIATELY changes it from .mdx to .mdl, and if I change a strucvture, like, a farm, to have the new model file as the path for hte model, it's still a farm.. even if I save/reload the map. It's like the new model is being ignored. Any help would be appreciated :ggani: |

Winter_Wolf, simply place the model and texture into your Warcraft III directory (default is C:\Program Files\Warcraft III\), or in a folder in that directory, such as C:\Program Files\Warcraft III\Units\. Warcraft III can read these files. In the object editor, you would put the path without the C:\Program Files\Warcraft III\ (or whatever that is for you) so you would get Units\xxxx If you need the units to be stored in the map, you need to use the import manager. MasterSlowPoke has put together a good tutorial on how to use this: http://www.hostultra.com/~MasterSlow...add/index.html Metroid, that tutorial should help you as well. Also, just ignore the changing of the path to *.mdl. The path is not really changing. [edit] Fixed URL, terribly sorry about that. |

I am not sure how that happened, but I tried it and got a 404. I must have pasted the link incorrectly. I editted the post with a working (at least for me) link. I am very sorry for that! |

I used that tutorial to add my model to the map with WinMPQ and I still cant get it to show up, it just loads what the unit was based off previously (Like if I replace a farm.mdx with my custom building.mdx path it just shows a farm even though the farm.mdx isn't pointed at anymore) Any idea's? I also tried the World editor import function, did the same thing as adding it manually with WinMPQ. |

Local directories are places on your computer, such as C:\Program Files\Warcraft III Also known as path's. |

Or in other words its like a folder, the location of which something is in. |
