I have made a program to edit .w3u files (the unit editor files). Currently, the program is much faster than using the built in editor, and can edit EVERYTHING about a unit. Once you have edited your units, you can import it into your map. Download it here: http://www.erie.net/~amgates/files/WC3UnitEditor.zip |

Hey, it's really good. I hope you figure out the Custom Unit thing, I'd really like to see that implemented. Another thing: In the fields where you select from a number of options (like Icons, Models etc), you could add an optional field if you want to specify a string instead. That would be great, especially when modding. |

Well, if you want to edit those fields as strings, just take the UnitMetaData.slk that comes with world edit blink and export it to a text file. Then just put that in the WC3Data subdirectory, overwriting the UnitMetaData.txt file that is there (i'd back it up first). |

Good News! It turned out to be much easier to impliment custom unit support than i thought... download the new version here: http://www.erie.net/~amgates/files/WC3UnitEditor.zip |

Using the feedback i've gotten, i've made quite a few improvements. I've also discovered a bug in WorldEdit that has to do with custom units. When you import unit settings that contains custom units, they won't show up at first. All you need to do is create a new unit and then they show up. If you had given this to me 4 weeks ago, I would have hugged you. Now, I will sadly only pay you the size of this program in KB, in pounds of gold. Thank you. |

heh, i'll just take the gold. as for the no hero ability, i just fixed that. all the unit fields are now VISIBLE (i hope). Download here: http://www.erie.net/~amgates/files/WC3UnitEditor.zip |

Apparently you can create heros based on normal units (NOT heros). see this post: http://www.wc3campaigns.com/forums/s...&threadid=2584 |

just fixed a bug that has to do with floating point numbers. (wouldn't load some fields such as attack cooldown correctly). it should work now. http://www.erie.net/~amgates/files/WC3UnitEditor.zip |

Guest | I love this editor, but there 1 thing i wish it could do... Make custom folders to organize units better you think that could be done? |
| 08-18-2002, 09:36 PM | #13 |
yeah, i'm still working on a better way to sort the units (folders would be nice) |

due to popular demand, i've added a crude sorting feature -- units are now sorted by their race. hope that helps. http://www.erie.net/~amgates/files/WC3UnitEditor.zip |
