Well I basically never made a good map I thought they were good just was never played, my first ever map was this edited race map, and there was a shop for each race that hired creeps, I called it creep force alliances all the races were also different like centaurs etc. this was back when you couldn't edit sound of a unit yet ehehe ;) another was a DnD the problem was the DM help system was too complex next was a vampire hunter map, well that was bashed as a copy of others this will prob be my last map if it fails basically, but I will try my best here is the first terrain overhead shot the legend is as follows: blue line - main path red line- cut thrus brownish circle - creep spawns greenish circle - special shops also in the middle is where both middle paths will cross a lil ditch thingy, it will be a criss-cross scenario there anyway if anyone think this is worth so far to continue on, then I will have faith and continue I did that entire AOS terrain in 30 mins. heh emote_sweat any feedback is appreciated except those that are blatantly bashing me cuz you just don't like me :gsmile: anyway lets hope the grass is really much greener on the other side Thanks! P.S - sorry for the crappy overheads and also is the terrain too like gloomy? well thats outland for ya, I am trying my best to make outland look good in here but it has a gloomy feel to it, maybe cuz all the dark stuff |

Its hard to know if you have good terrain if you only see the top.... don't mind me, I hate linear maps. |

Try adding more doodads instead of just mushrooms. |

Yuck!! Your terrain needs serious revamping. Don't use all of the same terrain!!!! Make your terrain varied but with no pattern. Use all the available textures and use the raise/lower tool!! I like to make a big noise over a path and then use smooth to make it have natural height. Use RAISE on the mountains to make them look taller. Use lower near ponds and water or, in your case, void. Also, those dranaei drug mushrooms are ugly, use barren trees. Stock up on that tilesets doodads, use them wherever possible. Make torches and rocks and have strategic height advantages. |

This is just me... But I like maps that are bright and sunny, like Lordaeron Summer. It makes me gloomy when I play a dark, desolate-looking map. :D |

The terrains need alot of work! The terrains look too plain and your terrains need to have no pattern. The doodads need ALOT of work. Dont always only use mushrooms. The terrains also need to be revamped. |

lol yea pes and izid thanks for the advice will do I will throw in most of your ideas and see how my terrain turns out then quite frankly those mushrooms are indeed ugly, I kept telling myself "argh these mushrooms bug me", the creative part of my brain hardly ever works while I am making a map sigh :( will get to work now, I need any other feedback possible Thank you all P.S - will continue to post pics of the map as I progress more |

I couldn't see your other pics beyond the overhead map, and maybe I'm just bored with the style of AoS type of maps, but the 3 main paths just remind me of every other type of aos map. I'd be interested in seeing perhaps an aos style map with a castle on one end where troops are defending gates or something and then the enemy camp on another which is sending the troops. If you want to make it where the attackers aren't knocking right at the door, make a village or something else just a bit outside of the castle. It just seems like once I played one of them, they all seemed the same. Placing different terrain and just changing around some units, even if they are custom with custom spells, to me isn't going to make me want to play the map. I guess I would say, work on it, hopefully you can give us better insight into what would make your map different from the others. |
