Gundam: Zaku II reskin

Hi All!

I've finally found some time to work on some stuff today and reskinned one of my earlier models to fit the new style I'm using for my War3-Gundam models. Rather than giving them black outlines and shading using black, I used mostly color to bring out the models.

I started this one way back when. Technically my second skin, this one was really bad and only a recolor of an earlier skin for a different unit (The Gouf). I didn't even bother to match up colors, and this was mostly a test-bed for laying out UVs.

Here's the new version


I did a complete overhaul on this skin. Took me a good 5-6 hours of work to do. I lessened the saturation of the skin and gave everything a bit more of an olive color rather than that awful bright green. I used an image of a Zaku II for color reference this time around - Advice for all potential skinners out there, REFERENCE IS KING. I added a few bevels to get rid of those black outlines and used darkened and desaturated hues to blend with rather than use black. It still needs tweaking and I'll probably bring up the contrast and add more detail later on.

Any comments and suggestions are welcomed! I just want this skin to be perfect, so please crit hard!

nice.. it wraps perfectly except for the arms. The bolts look unrealistic. You might wanna try to add little dents. Put the burn brush to 1 and the amount to 100%. You can make dents that way. nice skin though

Yea, really nice skin, I actually wanted to get a model (the real kind not 3D :P) of it once, but great job, and just as Mock 1 said, the bolts look unrealistic, but I love everything else. Oh, and it seems to be glossy by the eyes, from what I remeber the Zaku had one circular "eye" that would sweep from side to side. (I forgot what color, either red or white)

Gundams rule man! Awesome skin. No critoque that i can give.

Excellent as always, Triceron, but what about your awesome looking Spirit Knight model?
