Well, I'm just wondering if their is still an interest in AoS maps? What makes a good AoS map to you? -feedback on this would be most appreciated I personally find ToB (waiting til the update though :D ) and DoTa just...old, heh. I'd personally like to see a master piece, such as -all custom skinned/modeled heroes -really wicked spells -skinned custom pics for the spells -very realistic map terrian -differen't triggers (weapon system) |

I'm growing bored with AoS maps as each new one adds nothing to series besides a few small changes. Some big gameplay change, or added concepts to the map would keep my intrest if done well though. |

I know what you mean... One thing that I am adding in my 3 part series AoS Maps are: Besides the simple melee and ranged units, a "sea" pass, having war boats duking it out in shallow water with some other units along side, siege units, magic units, and flying units. I also plan to add a weapon system (slot 1 only) where you pick up and item, and then it adds the item (special effect) to the target as well as it's benefits. |

in my opinion, the original AoS map called Aeon of Strife that was made for starcraft before warcraft 3 came out was the best one. Yes, there were no custom spells (as it was not possible in sc except by a unit going into a location and triggers) and yes, there was only one side with the heroes on it and yes, i think people would now classify the original AoS as a hero seige map instead of an AoS map even though it gave them the name AoS maps... and yes, people would still rather play the map "BGH UBER LEET MO MONEY $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$" then Aeon of Strife... but, that map was so awesome. That was the only map that kept me playing starcraft. It was possible to beat it but you wouldnt beat it the first time you played unless you had a good team. And the "traps" where at a certain time enemy units would show up in one of the lines. And the reinforcements where more units would be spawned once from either your side or the other side. And it had the instant heal which made the only downtime the time it took to run back to your base. But I would like to see an AoS map like that for warcraft 3. |

That AoS was a wee bit before my time, lol, but I recall playing it a few years ago. I liked that too... Instant healing sounds like an ok idea, say, with certain restrictions though, heh. |

Perhaps have the healing well things be upgradable for gold so that they recharge at faster rates(or instantly). |

I'm really getting bored of AoS maps, they've been done to death, they all have the same objectives and mechanics and they're just getting really boring. |

I like AoS-RPG Hybrids, but not pure AoS. Keys of Sealing is an example of my favourite one. Another is Between The Worlds, which is also a very cool AoS. If all I have to do is invade a base, no matter how many custom spells or heroes there are, I don't like it. I would like it, however, if there's more of an RPG setting to it. The stuff I like to say while playing would be: "Should I defend the base or go on a quest and get more gold?" New features also matter a lot to me, and I would like one that has multiple ways to win, not only "Defend the base and kill theirs". |

Heheheh... I pity dem fools... No, not all custom skins, but I am making some, such as Luthe Don's (the plains) specified units (Theres going to be a knight hero (that you can be with a kewl new way of selecting what hero you wish to be and the storyline behind that :D ) without the armor and more at ease, such as a rider of rohan, if you know what I'm talking about. |

Cable is not twice as fast as DSL, don't kid yourself. Anyway, I have an idea bouncing around in my head for another battlefield map, like AoS or DotA, but much different. I'd share it, but then I'd have to worry about someone else doing it. ![]() |

i like any kind of AOS, that is if the heros are BALANCED...(or closely balanced, no uber hero in any side) like...yea, in DOTA, there is always some uber hero like the archer, or the skelly archer...man, u just hate them... ....about the custom skins...i dont really care, they are fine, but even a few makes the map big...so nah...ppl this days doesnt even have the patience to wait for 10 sec, they ll just say: "u ****ing lagger, host u lag!!, or LAG LAG LAG LAG...and so on.." and then they ll leave... custom spells...they are a must for AOS, and no, plz dont just rename thunderbolt and call it "custom spell"....at least do something original well...there isnt really much AOS type of map nowdays....(at least all i see in east or west is just "footies war", 80% of them are) |

Me and my brother have been working on an aos for a few weeks now. Weve been mostly playing with the new editor, and finding all this kick@$$ stuff. If we do it right, this AoS will be one of the best, we have alot of plans for it, and things that would keep it interesting. Lets just say, you cant just play it 2-3 times and know everything about it. Any ideas? Suggestions? I overread what someone else said, and i think i will talk my brother into making some quests for goodies. Everyskill is going to be customized, and if you though ToB had high hero levels... lol... these heros are godlike at max level in compairison. (dont worry the spawned units at the bases will be considered godlike compaired to them too :) |

AoS is still fun. Especially if you have creative heroes and abilities, and BALANCE. Another good feature is control points like in valley of dissent and keys of sealing, which spawn units and the units get better if you can hold the spawn points longer. I am bored with the normal destroy the enemy base objectives. Keys of Sealing was good. I love the fact that even if your base is gone, you still have a chance at win even though it is a slim one and there are a variety of quests to do which will give you an edge, and there were NPC heroes that sometimes would fight by your side, I thought that was pretty nifty. One of the most important things, BALANCE! Actually, balance in FUN may be even more important than balance in POWER. It doesn't matter if the heroes are wonderfully balanced in power, people will still hate when they end up with a hero that has skills they don't like. Preferably you should allow them to see the heroes skills before they make the choice instead of just going by the looks, then people can't complaing if they got a boring hero, they shoulda seen it coming! Also I had an idea with shops. Instead of just putting all the shops in each teams base, the shops should be out around the map between the bases, so people actually have to go places to get good items. Perhaps you could have control points that control certain shops, so you have to capture the area and then you even have to hold the area while you wait for the shop to stock the items you want, and the shops can reset their stocking when the place gets capturred so you have to protect the place to get the good items (just make sure that different control points have different shops or there is no point in taking a point just for a shop when you can go to another one somewhere else.) I hope these are some good ideas. Some of the maps out there are pretty good, but I hope we can see something better in the future. My current favorite is Keys of Sealing, but I will have to give Between the Worlds which someone mentionned a try... i havnt heard of it. |
