As you know, Halo for XBOX was destined to be a RTS game until Bungie decided to covert the engine to a FPS and make millions of dollars. However, this transition has left many wondering what Halo would have been like if it had been a RTS. This is the purpose of the project, to bring the story of Halo and apply it to a RTS format, much like Warcraft III. The general story is one of survival, the humans against the alien forces of the Covenant and the parasitic Flood. The following roles in development are currently open, with multiple talents allowed for each one. However, if there are any empty positions upon commencement of the project, I shall take responsibility, although this would seriously slow the progress. Modeller: Creates the 3d models to be used in the game Skinner: Creates the skins to accompany the 3d models Terrain Designer: Creates the various terrains to be used in the MOD Campaign Manager: Outlines the details of the campaign and mini scenarios Website Advertiser: Manages the website for the MOD Script Writer: Provides suitable computer AI and scenario triggers There will be four races to use with unique advantages and disadvantages. The Humans: Spartan Hero + Ranged Attacks - Large food cost The Covenant: Diverse unit types + Powerful Melee - Need to build within covenant territory The Flood: Cheap and mass produced units + Kamikaze - Little health The Forunners: Streaming attacks for all units + Full map view - Expensive and slow to build The progress of the MOD will start small and grow in scale later on. The campaign, if made, will consist of 10 missions much like the original game. The multiplayer maps will be designed for casual fun. Anyone is welcome to join at any time, and the actual project will start soon. EDIT: The project has started. The website URL, some concept art, as well as some of the models to be used in the MOD will be presented. Anyone is welcome to join at any time. |
