New Map Idea

For a while now I've been working on a new style of RPG. I've finally decided on what style of game to call it. So, without further adeiu, I present,

****Competitive Open RPG****

The game will feature a new system of RPing I hope people will like. It will also have all custom heroes, abilities, *most* units will be custom, and of course I never spare any expense on my terraining. There will also be two teams on this RPG, a good team and a bad team that will interact with eachother fighting to win the map.

The game will start and take advantage of the new feature of RPing.

Generated Story Quests: Every 10 minutes of the game a mini-game type quest will start. The first quest will be an opening cinematic for the storyline and feature a small goal to be accomplished. Probably something like, "Protect the royal caravan from enemies, watch out, goblin marauders have caught word of the caravan and are planning to intercept it." This will pit the good team with a goal of "defending the caravan" and the evil team with "stealing the caravan." If the good team were to achieve there quest, it would push the story towards a new generated quest in 10 minutes, and if the evil team was to win, a different generated quest would happen in 10 minutes.

Inbetween the quests players will have the chances to level there characters, discover side quests, or work towards finding the "Essence of Water," the main goal in the game.(although going through the generated quests will eventaully lead one of the two teams to finding the "Essence of Water" and achieving victory) So while the players will be opted to do whatever they want, wether it be exploring the map collecting treasure from dangerous caverns, or just leveling at creep camps, the players will always be driven together to quest and play in a story between the good and evil sides.

So how does this game sound? Should I scrap the idea? Should I keep it? All I have right now are heroes created so I've got a lot more time before I finalize this idea.

There's no choice for pretty good idea (that I could see anyways), but I think it's a good idea as long as it's randomized. If it were the exact same quests all the time, it'd get old.

Also, doodads and terrain stuff is cool, but don't over-do it on a multiplayer map.

Sounds kinda interesting. It's almost like a hero arena a but not quite. I would just make sure there are plenty different types of quests.

Here's an idea : With a system of randomizing quests, make it so that the "winners" of the quest get a bonus, or the "losers" get a punishment, or both. =) Like for the royal caravan quest, you could say the caravan contains a cache of weapons. If the good guys successfully defends the caravan, their team gets something like gains a level in Weapons Upgrades. Mix and match stuff, and you'll have everyone competing for pretty much everything. :D
