remove hero glow - SOLVED

I've seen a lot of people wanting to use hero models but without the glow. I figured out a way to do so. Place the unit using the hero's model on the map, and set owner to Neutral (passive or hostile). Then, use the "unit - change ownership" trigger, change the unit to whoever you want, and set in the trigger to "retain color." There ya go, glowless hero.

I think it's possible to do that with the change color trigger as well, but that way everything else which depends on the owner color will be changed as well. Can't have the blademasters have colored flags anymore that way.

The glow is still there. Its just its at a darkish grey color that is almost the same as the shadows color.

I dislike that method and much perfer hexing the model.

But will a hexed model work on bnet?

this way you won't have heros with the color of your team.
hex editing is still the best way to remove glows.

EDIT: ah, it seems that using your way you can really have heros without glow but with your team color. anyway i just don't the glow to go away :)

I should rephrase that, will a hexed model work on bnet with out making download times go through the roof? :)

si senior, it only adds about 100 kb to a map, and if your too many hexed models just use the local files or tuck it into your War3patch.mpq

putting it into war3patch won't work on bnet though right? (by work on bnet I don't mean just work...I mean work with random people:)

Umm...so I won't see the glow and they will? That doesn't help much, unless, I guess, I just really really hated the glow...(I'm talking about using the, say, paladin model for a normal unit, the glow kinda messes things up)
