Yeah, there are a lot of AOS/DOTA/TOB type maps out there and I realize its risky trying to create a new one but I figured posting some screenshots wouldn't hurt. The terrain isn't finished, I still have to map out the center and top left corner, but what I have so far looks pretty nice I think. This isn't nearly finished and I've only made 1 complete hero but here's some of the features I have so far: -Fireclaw Clan (Tribal Orcish race) vs. Silver Legion (Crusading army of humans) battle for control of the shrines and temples in the middle of a jungle. -Base defenses dont have super strong towers but they do have long range artillery. They work quite well in balancing out battles and breaking up groups of units that push too close to the towers. -Neutral strategy areas can be taken over and a tower put up. For example a ridge with a power circle remains empty until a unit from either side establishes a little tower to give a small edge. -Choke points are extremely important and dangerous. The jungle routes on the side provide narrow passages that are ideal for AOE spells and ranged heroes. The middle routes are more open and easier for melee heroes to escape conflict from. Charging ahead of your teams army and getting stuck right up front in the temple walls is a sure death so you should be careful. -Healing can be done at many locations throughout your teams temple (which is pretty big and has 2 extensions jutting out from center on two sides) so you dont lose a lot of experience early on running home to heal. -Units are generally weaker than normal Wc3 units but have significantly higher damage output. Ranged units have a long cooldown but do a bunch of damage, and are extremely weak. -Artillery will do a lot of damage to stationary units making ranged units highly vulnerable. I'm planning on heroes being somewhere around 18 levels max, all custom spells. I haven't worked too much on gameplay factors yet though so I'll just post some screens. Screenshot 1: Storm Shamen casting Thunder Claws (increases damage / attack rate) as you can see from the red lightning on the Shaman's hands. He's standing in the outer extension of the Legion base which was just destroyed. |

Sounds interesting enough. Try adding a few new gameplay concepts to get it to really stand out from other AoSs though. |

I couldn't access the website directly after posting so I am uploading the other screenshots now. SC2: WE picture of the two extensions for each temple type. |

It's taking a ridiculous amount of time to upload screenshots even though I resized them to 640x480 with only medium quality. I have cable modem... not sure what the problem is. I'll just drop it until I have something more. |

Ok, I'll try uploading the others I took. I just stopped after the second because it was taking like 5 minutes to finish. Here goes: sc3: Valley leading up to one of the temples in the jungle. Also, the Storm Shaman hero is not a copy of anything I have ever seen. Seeing at there are only a few lightning spells currently in the game and I havent done any custom art buttons you can imagine there is a high probability of seeing them on more than YOUR hero. The skills are as follows: Shock Blast: Increasing damage to multiple units (purge icon) - 60 (3 units), 120 (4 units), 160 (5 units), 200 (6 units). Thunder Claws: Boosts damage by +(15,20,25,30) and attack speed by 35% for 45 seconds. Storm Shield: Electricity gives off damage to melee attackers (thorns aura type deal) to help the mage against buffed out melee chars. (45%,60%,75%,85%). Storm Call: Calls a number of a storms which do damage to units (uses the monsoon art). I haven't worked out everything yet and I'm really just playing around right now as well as learning. |

There are to say a lot of TOB/AOS/DOTA maps out there. The thing you have to do to get your recognized for all the work you put in are basically 3 things. Balance, effects, and smooth gameplay. If you follow those 3 things it will be good, lots of people stress on effects as well. Because people play custom maps to do something else not the same spells they can use in game. My opinion. |
