3rd and 1st person view setup

I'm going to have one of the two in my Fallout 2 game, but, after goofing around with it for awhile, it began to confuse me alot.

3rd person: Everything is set up and works, except for view rotation around the unit. One option would be to use the right/left arrow keys to rotate the view, and this is fine, except that it only allows me to rotate the given ammount once. I set the left arrow key to move the camera 9 degrees to the left, for example. It works fine, for the first click, but dosn't rotate the view any further left when I click it again. Can anyone help?

Another option would be to automatically syncronize the unit's direction, and the camera's view, but this has me quite confused. If anyone has ideas or whatnot, please tell me.

1st person: For one thing, when you select the unit you wish to play, it takes the camera view that had been set to seem about like 1st person and makes it a closeup 3rd person. How should I set it? That is a fairly minor detail, and would be easy to to all-around, except for the additional fact that I can't find the proper command to make the unit move left/right/forward/backward with the keys I press. can anyone help?

A tutorial, explanation, or example would all be appreciated.:ggani:
