I have the following problem. :( I was editing my unit abilities (making new ones) and I created 3 based off of other abilities, but because I hadn't yet edited the specifics of the ability, I wanted to separate it from the ones I had already finished, so I set their race to commoner. At that point the editors tree acted weird, but it does that alot so I ignored it. I them edited 2 of them and set their race to "other" so they would appear in the tree next to my other 20 custom abilities. But I left the unedited one as commoner and proceeded to test my map, everything looked fine so I went back to the map editor and opened it to edit the last of the abilities. But it crashes :bangH: ANY time I click on the abilities tab in the object editor. I tried exporting the object editor info and importing it to another map, and it crashes on import. I tried something that I didn't expect to work, I opened the file in notepad (its was readable in notepad, which suprised me in itself) and I searched through and found the string commoner and changed it to other and saved it and tried to import it again and it crashed again. Does anyone have a suggestion on how I can save my custom abilities? I have MANY of them and don't want to have to start over.emote_confused PS. Don't say I should have saved before making the change, I already relize that I messed up in that aspect.:bgrun: |

U said u can read the ability info in notepad (the specific one that u made)? Then delete it. It may not work, but then again, it might. |

It is impossible to tell where one ability ends and another starts in notepad, they all kindof run together. The only reason I was able to change commoner to other was because there was only 1 instance of the word commoner. But thanks for the suggestion, I guess I can attempt it. |

I know its a Bug, I didn't realize it was a Known bug, but that doesn't resolve my problem. I would appreciate a solution and not posting "Its a known bug." Thank you. ------------------------------------------------------- I tried editing the file and deleting the spell in notepad. Unsuccessful. :( |

I think there is another error you should add to that list. One day when I openned by WE I noticed that none of the game play constants were there (they all were zero). I thought that was odd, so I reinstalled it. Then about a month later the same problem showed up. It seems to happen for no reason, infact I thought it was a virus, so i ran a scan, nothing... So I made a template map that I use for all my maps. Oh yeah, If I leave the constants alone (at 0) and run the game it seems to load the real game constants. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem of all of their game constants being deleted. |

Ok. I tried manually editing the file in a few different progs, but I feel it is not saving correctly. I think I am going to have to Hex Edit the file, but unfortunatly I no longer have a hex editor. If someone has a suggestion on where I might locate one It would be appreciated. PS this is not a double post, its been over 12 hours since my last post on this thread. ------------------------------------------------------------ DISREGARD!!!!!!!! I was successful in finding a Hex editor and repairing the data! (changing the "Commoner" entry to "Other") and now work is saved.) |
