I'm trying to change the color of the flames on the Infernal model. I opened up the mdl and found the ParticleEmitter sections, and found the SegmentColor areas...but there's three sets of three numbers. Code:
SegmentColor {
Color { 1, 1, 1 },
Color { 0, 1, 0.988235 },
Color { 0, 1, 0.329412 },You can see, I changed the first Color {} set to all ones, but it didn't change anything. Help? :bgrun: Edited because: Heck, even changing the entire first section to three 255's didn't do anything.... [edit2] A zero in every place does nothing also...[/edit2] SOMEONE has to know how to do this... |

Guest | those values are for [inner], [middle], [end] the values are in BGR value (blue green red) and goes to 0-1 all three should be change dif you want noticable particle changes ============================================== Infernal uses the combination of particles and planes wit scalable bones (model). You have to alter the particles and the texture referring to those planes. |

The 3 sets of colors refer to start, middle and end colors (for more information, see the post stickied above this, with the *obscure* name "Important: Particle Emitters - all the info I can gather ") First thing to keep in mind is the the infernal has a number of emitters - you may be changing the colors on the wrong one. THe second thing is that while some emitters have the "additive" setting (which makes 0, 0,0 invisible) others have the "blend" setting (which makes 0,0,0 black). It's possible you're simply changing the wrong type of emitter. Final tip: WE only loads a model with a given name *once* per session. If you made a model called infernal, made some alterations, and resaved as "infernal" WE will always use the first model, and won't look at subsequent revisions until you restart it. To get around this, make each incremental save have a different name (inferal1, infernal2, etc). Hope this helps. |

Thanks for all the help! I present a normal Infernal along with a Minty Fresh Infernal! |

Congratulations. It looks sweet :) |

Wow, it's really strange, I've only seen (or remembered) 3 infernal true recolors here. One by DraX (blood demon), one by some other guy and one by you. Another useless fact by FireAarro. |

You did forget me, I made one a long time ago, a new skin with custom models (it was called Hellspawn). |

Alrighty. Here's some of the results of my tinkering: #1: This one is the first one that I got to change colors. The problem is that the blue flames just look like percolating water; not the icy water vapor I was looking for. Solution? #2: Woo! This one's much better. The emitters use an 8x8 texture of snowflakes when they fire, which is much more fitting. Change a few colors on this and it's done. #3: Just thought he turned out cool. Needs a skin change, some color changes on the emitters and a change for claws/eyes. Meet the Smoke Infernal. I've made several other colors and a few with differnt textures for the emitters. I'll put together a tutorial-like thing up in a day or so as soon as I have the time. Again - thanks to everyone who gave suggestions and help. |

Oh, btw, the icy one would look cool if u add a paticle emitter with snow (using weather effect snow particles) that would just jump out of him or maybe twist like a small snow tornado. And for the smokie u'd better first make claws black and then make the whole skin partially see-through. |

Yeah, smokie really needs some work, but it wasn't what I was going for anyway. I just wanted to see if I could get black flames; I did, so I just colored the rest grey. How would I go about getting the whole skin to be translucent? And I really like the idea about the weather snow particles floating out all over around him. Adding a new emitter I'm not so sure about. I'm at work again, so I'll have to look into it when I get home, but I'm not sure I'd be able to add an emitter to the model. I will look into getting two of the emitters to shoot out the snow particles - probably the ones in his hands or elbows. |

Just CnP the emitter and add a pivotpoint... VooDoO, that doesn't count, same with KDE, those aren't real recolors. The skins are edited a bit :P. |

Back with some more pics. I saw some pictures on the forums of an ice golem that had see through skin. VooDooO also mentioned making the skin on Smokie the Infernal see through. Of course, see through is also perfect for ice, so I did some tinkering. Still haven't added the snow particle emitter mentioned, but I'll get to that too. After tinkering I came up with this: |

What's this? An Infernal so fast he leaves a streak of fire? An Infernal so fast his movement leaves a blur? ...Nah. Stole a ribbon emitter from the phoenix model and didn't change the color. I didn't even know if it would work, but, as you can see, it did. This will be very useful on other models. I also need to change the height of the emitter. It was supposed to be coming out of his neck, but isn't. Must tinker more... |

I tried to do the same thing but when i edited the colors in the partical section it changed some of the flames but not all of them. It changed the flames outside but the ones on his waste and around there stays the same. any reason why? |
