Use W3Z Map Editor to protect your maps. ;-)

Thanks Zepir!!! I took the M3Z for a little spin and found that after i encript the map, the minimap when the game start, turned into a WC3 logo and the abbr. M3Z? How to maintain my minimap, is there a way to turn that off.
Other than that the triggers fired off in a funny way!!! I then test the map b4 encripting and everything works fine???

Wats wrong??? Settings: W3Z Protection Lvl 3!!!
Cheers!

About the minimap thing (and it could be usefull for many people), you can remove the one my editor put just by removing the file called "war3mapPreview.TGA" from you map (w3m file) using WinMPQ (or mpq2k).

Also, about the trigger bug. This may be a real bug linked to the level 3 protection. I have to look at it closely... anyway, it's an "anticipated" beta which means I released it before beeing ready (I didn't really have tested it). If you could give me a map that has this bug and zip the map before and after using W3Z with a text file saying how I can check the trigger in game, that would help me a lot...

My map size went from 45k to 260k after I put
the protector on it. and it sure takes awhile for
people to download. Most of them just leave.

Is there anyway to reduce the size of the file?
And make it unreadable for WE.
My map is currently on a level3 Protection.

Thank you.

well, there is a way to gain a few bytes.

First, remove/rename the file war3mapPreview.tga in the "mapsfiles" directory where you installed w3z.
Then, if you know how to use listfiles with WinMPQ, create/save a listfile of a non protected map. Then open your protected map with WinMPQ and remove the file called war3mappath.tga (I add it for convertion/import/export purpose but it's useless since war3 uses the .wpm file now).

Your map will still be bigger than a one made with the WE because I use LMPQAPI to edit w3m files and it doesn't support (save only) the new compression format used by Blizzard and I have to save maps using the old compression format. I'll see if I can do something to have a better compression though. But what I really need is a new storm.dll API.
