Hey its me again. I would go with photoshop because...

1. More people use photoshop than paint shop pro so when u need advice its easier 4 u 2 get it.
2. Photoshop is so widely used u can find tips on tecniques anywhere. They even featued it in web design products as an entire issue.
3.Theres more plugins out their 4 it.
4. the last paintshop pro had problems with the alpha channels.
5. Its easier 2 edit the alpha channels with photoshop, with paitsop pro u have 2 make mask and crap( u could do that with photoshop 2 bu the otha way is easier)
6.It comes with image ready which i used 2 make my animated sig
its pretty easy (if u know how 2 use regular photoshop.
7. and and and.. u get the idea

ive been using it since the 4th grade. I worship at the altar of photoshop.:infth:

I use Paint Shop Pro 7. I have not tried Photo Shop, but I have heard many good things about it. Personally I dont mind Paint Shop Pro it seems to work fine.

better?... tips... tecniques?... uhm, guys we are talking about warcraft or professional grafic design?

I use photoshop in my work, and yeah! its a great program with alot of functions, but be reallist, warcraft skins are only little drawing made in 2hours. For my own skins i only use the brush and the smooth tools of paintshop pro, and at least to me it works great. So if you are a newcommer to the world of grafic programs ill recomend to use psp, its easier and you will never need something that psp cant do.

What about saving as 32-bit? I have all these cool icons I created out of final fantasy character portraits, but I can't apply them to my final fantasy map yet because I can't save as 32-bit and so I can't convert to .BLP :( If there is an alternate program that will help me do this conversion that you know about please tell me, otherwise I don't see how PSP is at all useful for warcraft III purposes.

PSP or Photoshop? Both. I use them simultaneously while skinning. why? well they both have pros and cons. Editing alpha channels and retouch tool is PSP's strong points. and when you want a more good looking burn and dodge and (intelligent) brush tool, use Photoshop. that folks, is my secret.

note to anyone interested:
before you apply the skin you made thru PSP into WC3 Img Extractor, make sure you open it in Photoshop and save it. Else, Image extractor won't be able to read it. thats all. tnx.

Alpha in Photoshop is very easy. Most likely you dont have your channel window up is all. Go to view>channels, and a window will pop up with the RBG channels in it. You will see here an RBG channel, A red chan, blue chan, green chan, and below those an Alpha channel. If for whatever reason there isnt an alpha channel or you deleted it somehow, just click the little box that says create new channel in that window, and you can make a new alpha channel.

To edit the alpha channel just click on it, and if you are confused because all you see is black and white and arent sure where to edit parts of the skin, just click the little box next to the channel above it ( you will see a little eyeball appear in the box ), or the rbg channel and you will be able to see the entire skin, but actually be "drawing" on the alpha.

Hope this helps, theres already enough steps with importing and loading WE etc..one less program should speed things up for ya.

I think Paint your computer comes with is the best.....lol jk I'm not sure about photoshop..... never used it used paintshop pro and it was a pain in the *** when I tried to transfer it to a different computer... it kept saying unsupported compression and then it screwed the alpa channels up.... so I would probaly say go with photoshop if you dont want any problems that take hours to fix
