Multiplayer using GameCache

If someone wants to make a multiplayer game that allows you to save your character and store it in a game cache, then upload it to a ftp site, I think this is a wonderful idea. However, it is limited, as I have found during my searches. Please read the following threads.

http://www.wc3campaigns.com/forums/s...threadid=18864

This one explains that it is basically impossible to use gamecache on b.net. However, the following link states that there IS a way; by using a large character password:

Now, if some of you brilliant mapmakers can figure this out and get around this problem, it's full steam ahead, because the rest is simple and easy to do. If you have comments, ideas, suggestions, or help to offer, please post it here.

Yeah I started that topic along time ago, but I guess some good Ideas came from it. The 3rd party program would be very amazing if it can be done. Maybe war3campagins can host it. I think this is the way that modders should be moving right now, if blizzard wont do it the modder community should.

Yes. It would draw a good deal of attention to WC3Campaigns, even more than there already is, if they dedicated some server space for a MMORPG database.

BTW, the cache has to be stored SOMEWHERE. Maybe a program could be made to find the data stream it's in, and write it to a file, then upload it FTP-wise.

Maybe that's what you are talking about, anyway.:////

Well if such a program were created, Wc3c would host it or put it on here. It'd have to be good though. :D

I'm sure it would/will be! If it's alright, I would like to join the 'team' working on this, if a team is actually created.

That is good to hear, If this product can be created I will help out in anyway I can. I am looking into C++ and Jass programing as we speak, but by the time I learn to make it work I will be 28, I am 17 right now.

Lol! I'd say our first step is to make a map that is as far as the lastest map made on the subject. Similarly, we should get a link to those two programs mentioned, and make sure they don't get lost.

Yeah damn I wish I had more experience in this, but what you are saying does make sense. You have any ideas on how to do that? Since Jass is the language of War3 maps and C++ is basic programing language. Linking these to programs should not be hard.

I know you can change some stuff in hkey regedit something so warcraft will read your warcraft folder for files and use them.
And you can use game cache on b.net but you can only use it in the same game as you made a game cache. I mean you can save a gamecache but when you host a new map you can't open the game cache but you can in the game you created the game catche.
can you follow me?

Yes, but I'm not sure if it is actually loading the game cache, or just looking at the most recently used data.

Reguardless, as mentioned in my sig, there is someone who found how to make it work fully. We should continue where he left off, methinks.

I have found the one of the programs needed to open those multiplayer on b.net maps in the WC3 TFT WE. It should be all we need to edit and view what he did.

GoldenUrg's Trigger Editor Patch

Also, I have posted a request at the WCiii.net forums for us to use what Project Anarchy learned. If you would like to view the thread, it is here.

Alright, using a map that I made and WinHack v2.00, I was able to find the cache info imbedded in a memory address in string number $0012C950 and it started at digit 4 each time, and ended in string $0012C970 on digit 5. A breakthrough? If it is guaranteed that it will always start and end in the same address area, it may be possible to make a program that will check those strings and digits, save the info and upload it via FTP, and then, when asked to load it, take the info out of the file, and put it back where it belongs, creating the cache back into the game.

Would this work? I have had problems getting it to actually LOAD, but it may be able to be done by a L337 WinHack user.

Uhh yeah, for those of you who haven't heard already.... Dark Crescent has this created already. MarSara was the programmer, and we have a webmaster working to create a ladder system. Forum link here: http://www.wc3campaigns.com/forums/f...s=&forumid=201

Woo 1700th post -_-
