Question: custom spell effects

While I have gotten a custom spell editor to alter the visual effect of entangling roots to my liking for a custom ability, I must pose the following question:

if I use a custom spell editor to change said ability, is there any way to have more than one version of said ability, IE: If I wanted to have two versions of entangling roots, one with Roots, and one with Ice, is that possible? Or must it be one or the other as it seems now.

Thanks.

You can create custom abilities. So just create an ability based on the entangling roots spell.

That's what I would have thought, but the custom abilities I've created in the world editor don't seem to show up in my custom ability editor (I'm using the multi-tool editor downloaded from the tools section).

Or do I have to create the new abilities in the ability editor?

Ah I see, can you point me to a better custom object/ability editor then? There's so many on the download page and they all say they're great o_O

*edit* as the ability editor inside the TFTWE doesn't (that I can see) have the ability to edit the graphical effects on such "set in stone" abilities like Roots and chain lightning.

ya so all you have to do is extratc the RACEAbilityFunc.txt, look for your spell and change the buff art graphic. note this effects all spells based upon the orginal spell.

Which brings me back to my original question, is it possible to have two versions of entangling roots, one with the roots and one with ice, or must i have them universal, as the original poster seemed to indicate I could have two.

Unforunately, the art for roots, I believe, is hard-coded as a buff, so the buff art can only exist for one of the spells.

What you can do, though, is make the buff art invisible, and then in the ability editor, add art to the target in the invidual spell data.
