I'm gonna run over my copy of TFT with a Steamroller if people ever start making Harry Potter RPGs... Warcraft 3 and Harry Potter are two universes that should NEVER meet, and the Harry Potter universe should just be blown up by 500 billion Atomic Bombs anyway. |

No, give it to me and I'll sell it on ebay. Also, as a guidline, don't post the same thread on multiple forums. |

Hmm...you guys are right, there does need to be a harry potter map for war3, any of you know the general idea of what happens in any of the books, or, umm, what magic potter has? (that's all I'd need to make it a map that'll show up everywhere...) |

Harry Potter is a strange thing. All the kids around the world likes it, but almost everybody I know hates it. I admit that I hated it like I hate Barney or that colored strange things that repeat themselves and the purple one use a womans´s bag. But after start reading the first book, I found a interesting thing. It is good after all. If Harry Potter could not be made in wc3, i say the same thing for Final Fantasy, Hero Quest, or Magic. I would prefer a harrypotter rpg in rpgmaker, BUT creativity show us that impossible things could be done. :foot: |

As I'm sure you've gathered by this point, Boba, there are no Harry Potter maps right now. Though if you'd like to take up the challenge, this is certainly the place to learn how. Now I personally am not going to be even considering it... Not that I dislike Harry Potter, actually I like it very much even if the general opinion is agaisnst it. But that general opinion is why it is unlikely that any good Harry Potter maps will ever come out. Because most of the people with the kind of skill to produce something that would seriously wow you hate Harry Potter on principle of it being "too popular" and "too childish." As for myself, for some reason I really do not like the idea of fanwork in Warcraft... by which I mean Harry Potter-based Warcraft and LotR-based Warcraft and anything else-based warcraft. Not that I think it's bad, I hear some of the LotR stuff is VERY good. It's just not something I personally wish to create. Which is a real shame because there is certainly a great deal of material that would make for good work. Although there are some things, such as the sheer variety of spells available to any one character in those books, that I am not sure how I would implement, there are things like Dementors (tell me you can't already imagine how to modify the Acolytes) and giants that would be easy choices. (Hmmm, I seem to be coming up with mostly "forces of evil" type units... which makes sense as the forces of good are more of a commando unit than an army.) Contrawise, think of the beauty of all the custom spells and heroes one could create going more RPG-style with several main characters. There is certainly material to be worked with in the Potter realm and it is not unthinkable to do it in Warcraft, at least from a feasability sense. I know some people are probably threatening to string me up at this point for crimes against the name of Warcraft, and to be honest I do sympathize with their fears. So many people who would want to create a Harry Potter map would merely create lackluster, half-baked shells, ghosts of anything decent. Just as most people with the skill to do right by Potter hate the series, so does that mean most people who like the series enough to make a map would not be able to do it well. But this does not necessarily mean that someone intelligent and talented could not, with work, create a wonderful Harry Potter map. Not all Harry Potter fans are as foolish as some believe them to be. *cough* But as I said, I am not sure how you would work it; I do not think I could create a fitting map that captured the atmosphere and style of Rowling, for one. And so far no one has had the right blend of talent, individuality, and drive to create a decent Harry Potter map... in fact we haven't even had several of the awful Harry Potter maps from people who just like the series but don't get the subtleties of mapmaking and Potter that we all fear... We just don't have any Potter at all. |

NOOOOO!!! No Harry Potter!!!! Just thought id yell that. But i wonder why people like Harry Potter so much. Some people say its "original". I think it is completely unoriginal. Whats original or unique about wizards, witches, magic potions, spells, magic wands, trolls, etc... Not that theres anything wrong with any of those, but i read the first book, and it really wasnt very good. |

That's only about 50% true. I dislike Harry Potter as much as other childish stuff such as Teletubbies, Digimon, Pokémon, etc... |
