I am having trouble importing my skin in to the game. I have skinned it and converted my skin to blp with WC3 Viewer. (My skin is Peasant.blp btw) But I have no idea how to import my skin into the game. The tutorials are wierd and don't give step by step instructions on how to import. I tried using MPQ2k but it just didn't work and same with MPQtech. But then again they were not in my WC3 directory. I really want to try out my skin, can someone please just give a step by step process on how to import my skin?(including which program to use and where to put it) - Also do I have my edited skin named the same name as original skin, should I make the edited skin's name different or keep the same as original? |

ok. First of all, use winmpq. Its easily the best if u want to import a skin. However, if u have frozen throne (which u should) u can just use that, (which is the easiest by far). Well i dont really feel like waiting for a reply telling me which one u have so ill just tell u how to do both ways. ok. 1: Frozen throne world editor 1. Open up ur map and place a unit that will have ur skin (in this case, a peasent) 2. Open up the import manager (by the Object Editor) 3. Go to the import button, and choose the .blp file of your skin, doesnt matter what u name it. 4. double click on the imported file and click the box so u can edit the path. 5. Put in the path that u found it in the mpq. If u are using image extractor 2, this will be the path that u see in the "find" box that u will see if u press "f" and search for peasent. Its most likelly Units\Human\Peasent\Peasent.blp (overwrite whatever was previously in the input box) 6. ur skin will not show on ur unit immediately, however, if u go ahead and test the map, it should appear in game, and the next time u open the world editor, u will see it then. Ok now for winmpq 1. Save ur skin and covert it and name it Peasent.blp 2. Open winmpq, and choose the load mpq option, open ur map (u may have to change the file type its looking for in the browse box. Like it will search for .mpq files, just change that to any file. 3. Choose your skin and it will prompt u to put in a file path. Choose "Units\Humans\Peasent\" without the quotes. Now it should appear like it would in the import manager of frozen throne. now load up your map and you should see the skin, however, once u open up the map in WE, the file will be lost from the mpq and u have to import it again. But u can load the map as many times as u want in warcaft 3 without it being deleted. If u do open it up in WE, just import it again and it will be fine. ya i know that 3rd step was like 5 steps but its ok Now im saying all of this if the actual path of the peasent is Units\Human\Peasent\Peasent. If it isnt, then put in the right one. Remember in Winmpq to always name the unit the last part of the file path before you insert it. Just reply with any questions and ill be happy to help you. |
