I'm sure there's a post about this somewhere but to be honest I can't even think of what this is called, to search for: How do you go about changing the text/picture of the icon that shows up on the effected unit? Like when a unit is effected by endurance aura, and you click the unit and it says endurance aura in their little.. uh.. effected box, how do you change that? It's neat to be able to make custom abilities but it looks retarded to have it say that. Secondly, is there a way to change some of the effects of the 'base' spells? Like entangling roots, or is the 'roots coming out of the ground' thing hard coded into the game? Thanks everyone |

I'm not really sure about the first one, as I've never bothered trying, but the second one you have to edit the old fashioned way. Basically you have to edit NightElfAbilityFunc.txt and change the targetart manually, then import it to Units/NightElfAbilityFunc.txt with the import manager. I think there is a link and/or an explanation how to do this sort of thing in the RoC WE FAQ that is sticked up top. Just remember, if you can't change the art of the spell in the object editor, you're going to have to edit .txt files. |

You have to go and change the path to the icon in NightElfAbilityFunc.txt, its a file in the mpq. just export it, search for the ability, change the string and icon and import the file into your map. |

I heard changing strings in that file can desynch maps... this still true? |
