So instead of starting off with recolors and such like I'm sure many people do when they're just learning how to reskin a model, I decided to jump right in with one done from scratch. I loaded up the Spellbreaker skin file in Photoshop and proceeded to redraw the shield. Just to show what I was doing, I'll display it here: I then opened the alpha channel and proceeded to white out what was there already on the shield only. I then saved the image, converted it back to .blp and imported it into a map. When I placed a spellbreaker the problem was pretty obvious. Every area that normally had teamcolor had only solid team color displayed, even the areas I didn't edit. So what am I doing wrong? |

Your shield looks great! I had a similar problem with a spellbreaker skin. It is the alpha channel as you suspect -- you need to change it. I was a complete noob and was able to successfully change my spellbreaker alpha channel using the tutorials. I forget which one, but it's at this site somewhere. Basically, you'll need to turn part of your alpha channel white (the part over the shield). |

As I said, I did turn it white :) Only problem is after I saved the file, reconverted it and imported it, *every* place that normally has teamcolor on the model displayed *only* solid teamcolor, and I didn't even edit any part of the alpha channel other than what was on the shield. |

Are you sure you used pure white? 255/255/255 ? |

Yes, but I don't see what that has to do with the problem I'm describing. *edit* To clarify, here is what I am seeing in the Editor: Even with editing ONLY the portion of the alpha channel that covers the shield, this happens. |

Maybe something went wrong during the editing/saving of your new alpha channel -- mind posting your blp and perhaps I could look at it? Don't worry, I won't steal your skin -- I already have one for spellbreaker that I'm happy with ;) |
