Hello everyone. I'm back again! Starting a new project too!

Well, first of all let me explain why I've been gone for so long:

First of all, I had lost faith in these forums due to power struggles. I feel, and shall always feel, that the authorities of WC3C try to act like government officials, and act "too serious" about their jobs. I'm not trying to judge or degrade WC3C, because other than the authorities, this site is absolutely great. I love the forums, the community, and the interface! I'm back now because I want to try to get along with the authorities instead of seeing them as problems. These are my opinions, I hope no one becomes annoyed and sees them as complaints.

Second reason: REAL LIFE! I've been getting ready for college and stuff, had no time for map making :( how sad of me!

Hero Arena's seem to be really common. But I like them, and I like making them. I'm teaming up with my good ol' friend DwarvenKiether and we're creating my second hero arena, MDM Hero Arena Xtreme. This one will be for the expansion, obviously. I don't know when it will be released yet, I hope soon. I leave for college on the 30th, so I hope to have it done before then. Depends on how fast kieth works on the units. Some features:

- Hero Transformations. This will be much like on Fireblade's arena, but with some differences. These transformations will take extra requirements other than reaching a certain level, and will take place in a "shrine" area. Heroes must make sure they meet the requirements and then transform in the "shrine" to their "ultimate form" (different model, but some-what relative to their previous model)

- The terrain won't be so RPGish like in my first hero arena, MDM Hero Arena. It will have the basic hero arena structure.

- Quests. Yes, you thought I would leave them out? These quests won't be time-initiated like in the last one. These quests will be "creep" quests, where you obtain special items and that sort of thing. These quests require "keys" and are portals that lead to different areas outside of the arena.

- Dueling. One thing that makes my hero arenas unique is the ability to request a duel instead of them being given durations. For example: someone from team 1 can type "duel me" and send a request to team 2 for a duel. Someone from team 2 types "duel me" and the duel begins between the two that agreed to the duel. This is a much more effective way of dueling to me.

These are the main important features. I hope to make the terrain interesting and the heroes balanced. Tomes will be EXTREMELY cheap and gold very easy to get. Players seem to find hero arenas more entertaining when they are able to mass upgrade.

Sorry everyone for being gone for so long. I know that 99% of the people didn't notice, or didn't care, but I hope someone missed me :D

It's nice to be back. I'll keep everyone updated.

For all the map genres out there, a map legend like you have to make a hero arena.....

I won't stop you, I'll say good luck :D

Yeah you know that Hero Areans have lot there "place in the sun". Right now Open RPGs, and AOS, TD are the biggest.

TD is also losing its touch. You won't see as much mauls as before.

I think the most popular would be Open RPGs and Hero Defenses. They're getting people's attention.

Yeah that is true, but I personly like TDs. But the best bet is Open RPG.

too bad most open rpgs have no storys, no quests, and just hack and slash... (notice i said most though)

But thoughs type of RPGs die out very fast normally. I am a strong believer in story line and the better the story line the more enjoyable the game. But maybe I am just weird...

Actually I think RPG's are kind of boring. I like picking a cool model, killing stuff, and upgrading to kill more stuff and feel superior. I hope my hero arena can be enjoyable to you guys.

Okay. To get people to play it the I suggest adding features that a new. Like...er.... transferable hero status. So you can change your hero and X% of the old heroes stats are transfered over to the new hero. I made this idea for one of my maps that I got sick of...

You should make a Team Survival like Enfo's. That one is pretty cool, even if the Paladin is ungodly strong...

If that's all you're going to have, MDM, my map, which is already far in the making, will have stolen your spot-light even before it begun.

The "duel me" system never got popular (And is not used due to this fact) because people did not understand it, nor felt like dueling anyone if they didn't "have to". Even if you get a reward for winning, you don't want to contribute to the other guy if YOU lose. And the command itself, duel me, is not a good command because it's ****ed up english, but that's mostly me, hehe...

Creep quests, well... I'll have one of those. The other one will be a "press the buttons" quest. And well, whoever is the best on either these quests gets a price in either money, a tome (which is not avavible otherwise) or a pretty powerful item. Which can always be sold or given to a teammate.

When someone leaves, they hero is removed, their XP is split in to two (or just taken if there's only one guy left on the team) and his money is distributed among the rest as well. The items are dropped on the ground, "IN BASE", for teammembers to pick up.

Team duels will occur, where the 4 teams (of 3) will go together and whichever team is left standing gets a price. As well as a secret mini-game which I think will be very fun to play. One winner, One prize. Power.

ATM making heros and spells.
Next - Closing triggers.
Left after that - Items, cash balance and general other balance.

My map will be loaded with features that were already existant in my first hero arena. You shouldn't be so judgemental so soon on my map's features. I named off some features that came to mind, that is definitely not everything. You have not played with the "duel me" feature in my first hero arena, you have not been around people to know how successful it is. You should really give my map a chance. My first one gained the spot light, and this one shall gain it as well. Dueling will be 1 on 1, and there will be different types of duels... and different ways they start. You will honestly have to prepare yourself for my map's extensive complexity!

"Complexity"...

Not a word that Battle.net people would like.

Internal Complexity is what I mean. Features will be complex in a way that they perform- not how they are controlled.

Ah ha! this answers our question on the thread 'How complex of a map would you play' Internal complexity is right! By the way, I personally don't like hero arenas, because ALL of them are not precisely balanced. I always pick a hero that is degraded and the spells mean nothing.
