This map I'm making is called <Input name here> (heh). It's supposed to be a map where you try to infiltrate a city. The city is controlled by the computer. There will be several ways into the city, most controlled by guards, some are secret. The thing is, teamplay is vital. If one player tries to sneak - or assault - his/her way in, nearby enemy units will come to aid the guards at that place. Of course, if there are no guards, the player will sneak in unnoticed. The key to victory is, as mentioned above, teamplay. You will only succeed if you work as a team, confusing the computer by tricking them into helping their teammates, leaving the area they were guarding. This may seem a little easy once you got the hang of it. Though, it gets more complex if you want a high score. Yes, I said score. Each "good" thing you do gives the team additional score. Such as sneaking in unnoticed. The opposit also applies. Getting captured and/or killed will decrease the score. There are several ways to increase your score, such as cutting the power by destroying the local power plant, or rob the bank. Money is also important. You can rob the villagers for money. Some might not carry money, so be careful, as it might not be worth it. Why not? you say. If you do not suprise them, they will alert enemy guards by screaming. This might also be a tactic, so use it to your advantage if you're smart. A hit by a guard is mostly deadly. The accuracy changes from guard to guard, so you might be lucky. In other words, you are weak. Stealth is the keyword. Most guards will try to capture you however. If you are captured, you are transported to the prison where you are held. You and your teammates are a bunch of terrorists. Your objective is to kill the embassador. If you are quick, you will be able to kill him before he reaches the embassy. If not, you will have to destroy the embassy. This can be done several ways. 1)Sneak your way into the embassy unnoticed. This will result in an instant win. 2) Kill the guards guarding the embassy silently. Plant C4 to blow it up. The timer is set to 2 minutes, but you'll have a rough 2 minutes. I'm planning on several more ways to win, but also several optional objectives. Tell me what you think. Please come with ideas. |

So its kinda like thief 2... I would definatly play it, but it would be hell to make everything work like its supposed to. If you can do it, shoot for it, and good luck. |

I once thought of a sneaky infiltration type map, didn't work out too well for a couple reason. The number one reason was the units who did the sneaking. The only good one was the warden (RoC unit, but possibly TFT hero) are the only sneaky type characters. Second reason was difficulty. Score means nothing to the average player. The game gets progressivly easier as you play it more times, no matter much you increase it. If difficulty is too hard, no one will play it. If its too easy, no one will play it. The third is plain gameplay. If its just the same sneaking every minute of the game, it will become boring and tiresome. Good idea, but really difficulty to pull off. Umm, about the difficulty thing, don't add a score. Just make it so if a unit passes an area too quickly, increase the difficulty and have guards have a priority against you. |

Yeah, I will :) I think I can get most of it to work. I have done similar things before. Oh, and here's a small pic of the "city" in its current state. EDIT: It won't just be an ordinary city. Guards will be positionated out(patrolling), as well as local villagers. |

It shouldn't be "super sneaky", but instead more like action AND stealth combined. You shouldn't be scared of guards THAT much, you just have to make sure they're facing the other direction :) |

well if you want to get more complicated, you can use some triggers to give guards a LOS (line of sight), so its possible to sneak around behind guards, because if u just use their AI, they can see all around them |

I'm using a trigger to determine whether the unit is in the los :) |

well i hope you also took into concideration that they shouldn't be able to see you if you're standing behind a doodad, nor should they be able to see someone thats on a ledge, although if hes at the edge of it, he would be visible i'd say add a light system, and movement system too, for several degrees of stealth, and footprints if you want... since it doesn't sound like you need help, i won't bother posting my ideas of how to accomplish all that also if you wanted, i would suggest a 'random' game mode, where the town is generated randomly as well as guard and objective placements |

Reminds me of Chicken Run and Metal Gear Solid 2 :D |

Sounds Cool. Might be hard to do but eh, if you can do it then awsome. Ill play it when its done. But also include random towns/objective marker things also to keep it interesting. Otherwise, "Oh go do this, then this, then this, then this, then win". It could turn out like that......... but w/e |

I suggest you set the gaurds to have a slow turn rate, so if you uncloak right behind them to stab em in the back, they dont turn around instanly and leave your head rolling across the garden |

You know that light that's given off by the lantern and torch doodads? Well make it so that if you walk into the light, you will unshadowmeld or something, and outside the light you are less likely to be detected. That'd be cool. |

why is everyone using the term 'shadowmeld'/'cloak'? that would be probably one of the worst ways to do a stealth map IMO (and by everyone i meant that last 2 posts) |

great idea! I would definitly play this if you manage to do everything you said. for the hiding behind doodads, just add line of sight blockers aroud the bushes, so you can like hide in them, and also add them on walls and stuff. I suggest you have like 3-4 heroes. -Thief/Rogue [Warden] - All around fast hero adept at infiltrating: .Cloak (the thief stay still for a while, invisible in the dark - 10 secs about ) .run (makes you run faster for a short time) .Lock Pick (unlocks doors and crates and stuff) .Steal (Steals random item, or money from someone) -Ranger [Dark Ranger](has a bow, but has chance to miss) - Sharpshooter, adept at taking out guards silently: .Poison arrow (makes guard blind for a few secs) .Noise arrow (to distract, doesnt dammage) .Cat Eyes (upgrades line of sight) -Assassin [Demon Hunter] .6th sense ( "knows" when a guard is near, even though he can't see him) .backstab (decreases movement speed, but next hit is instant kill) ... didn't think of others I hope you use my spells =) as I think they are pretty cool, and not overpowered. looking forward for a working version =). Thanks for the positive feedback :ggani: desty, most of your skills WILL be used :D Quote:
I'm afraid that's not true. I can do most if it, but there are of course things that I can't do. Random towns will be really hard for example. Having the guards positioned in random locations may be cool, hard, and sometimes good, but they might spawn at stupid places too. What I'm trying to say is that all help is really appreciated. As mentioned above, desty, most of(if not all) your spells will definitely be added. |
