Are Berzerker-like upgrades impossible? (TFT)

When I saw the Troll Berzerker upgrade, I thought immediately that that would be a great thing to play around with in the TFTWE's upgrade editor. Unfortunately, under "Upgrade Type" it only has one of those four-letter combinations. Does this mean that I can's make the Archers -> Rangers or the Knights -> Paladins upgrades I had planned?

And since you can see those 4 letters, I'd assume you can change it. Just use an MPQ viewer to see what unit you want to change it to. I'm not exactly sure and I'm no expert but thats what I get out of it.

You *may* be able to get those upgrades by using Chaos, like on Siege Tanks or Chaos Orcs. Just edit the Chaos spells to what you need, and using triggers, when the upgrade is researched, give them Chaos and activate it. No idea for sure how to actually make the trigger, but i'd say that's the best way.

Hey, that's a good idea. I wish I thought of that.

And Guinsoo, the 4 letter combo is the combo for the spell, not either unit.

Easiest way to do it is take any upgrade (i always use abolish magic because it doesn't actaully do anything) and change its cost and reqs. etc. to your likeing. Then base a ability off beserker and make its req. the upgrade and change the unit it changes into (i.e new unit changed into or something like that) and give the unit your new ability .... hope that works

Yes, but that just gives them an ability, not actually changing the unit (like archer-->ranger, knight-->pally, you get the idea). As far as I know, my idea will allow the units to change types *and* add abilities.

You can do it with slk editing. If you look at UpgradeData.slk it lists the unit codes for the base unit can the upgraded unit. Just add the upgrade in the slk. Personally I recommend slk editing for just these reasons.
