Any way to make Monsoon work?

K, I like the monsoon ability, the way it works and whatnot, except it doesnt make the caster 'channel' properly....is there a way to:

A: make it channel properly
or
B: Make it 'detatch' once fired so it continues to do its thing and the caster can do whatever?

you could check it out...its used by the evil shaman from the frozen throne stuff, in the editor....in any case

yo utarget an area and the spellcaster stands there channeling, and any enemies in the area get struck by lightning every second or so for 20 damage.

Problem with the ability is, the caster doesnt channel. he doesnt get 'cemented' like a normal channeling spell, but if he moves at all, then he stops...

You can't make it work properly w/o triggers. And the way I see it if you do it with triggers you can't make it a channeling spell. You must use another unit to channel the spell which is hidden.

just make a trigger so that when the spell is cast it starts playing his channel animation, and when it stops it resets his animation.

Thats not the problem, the problem is that when you give a command to the order that the unit's in, the unit follows that command instead of continuing channeling. The same applies to Stampede.

THATS what ure worried about? I can do that with blizzard, rain of fire ect, just tell them to move somewhere in mid cast and they stop casting. ALL channel spells work like that (at least to my knowledge)

All... Except Blizzard, RoF, Starfall, and all others with the exception of stampede and monsoon. Dunno about the spell Channel though.

i know i'm right about blizzard, i just played Rival nations as an AM and i was able to stop casting blizzard in mid cast by telling my AM to run away.

Maybe I should just give him forked lightning and forget about it for now.
