Diablo II Heroes

I got an request from Sharky_DK about making the skins for the heroes of Diablo II. (Barbarian, Assassin, Druid, Necromancer, Sorceress, Paladin and Amazon)

I first thought of the models to use and after deciding, I started on the b-man. With the grunt mesh. I know, I know.. stupid model to use, but I figured I'd do some minor adjustments on it...

Well, That took all this damned day!

Does this message say anything:

Apparently, I had a extra dot or comma or whatever in lines of code.

Yeah, sure, it had to be in the vertex data, so it couldn't be to hard, the models usually being divided into small geosets... Well, I isolated the error to the block
and began checking the data line by line. About 350 lines later, I found this:

Joy was to be found within my heart! The error at last.:)

Of course, the portrait file got messed up too, so a release of the model and skin isn't happening today.. A screenie though:

PS. Here is the number of lines in the demonhunter mdl: Pretty hefty, huh?

About the skin (sorry for not editing previous post, but then it would get really messy):

The blue tattoo (hardly visible) should go over one eye and then curl up on top of the head. Because of the unwrapping, The model mirror the face-texture for the skin, so the "over one eye" -part is not going to be (If I don't figure out unwrapping in mdl format).

Also, the head used to be a helmet, so the texture would get VERY strange if the tattoo would continue abit up. Actually, it would add a similar tattoo in this blokes neck.

DigiDorkX: White fur? Really, I can't see it... I'll post a crossreference shot with an peasant or whatever whhen I get home, so a potential error could be fixed.

Thx for pointing it out.:)

BTW, The druid is almost finished too, using the Medivh model as base.

The other models used are:

Barbarian - Modified Grunt
Druid - Medivh
Sorceress - (Modified?) Jaina Proudmoore
Necromancer - Modified Arthas on foot, wielding frostmourne
Paladin - Modified Footman
Assassin - Modified assassin
Amazon - Modified Bandit Spearthrower

Your gonna use a bandit for the amazon!?!

The bandits a guy.

Use the Archer I guess, its the only one that works.

Nakou the Saiya: MODIFIED spearthrower! I'll pull the vertices to make it resemble a female. Not such an hard task.;)

How did you think I got the horns, teeth and helmet off the grunt?

All I can say is WOW! Can I use that :). My only problem is that I would love bladestorm on him, and grunts don't have bladestorm animation.

But Truly ****ING AMAZING WORK. It really was much beter then I could of EVER imagined.

Yah, I like the Barbarian skin too :)
Maybe edit his face a little, but other than that it looks good :)

Hmm, something must be wrong with your mdl convert then, because I can convert grunt mdx=>mdl=>mdx flawlessly. You sure you have v2.1?

if not I strongly suggest taking that version as it fixes more of those damn bugs like with the BM mdx =\

Cookie: Nah, it wasnt YobGuls converter that -*BEEP*-ed up, but rather my clumsy attempts at trying editing stuff I dont got a clue what they are there for.. ;) You often leave a dot or two when pasting data from one file to another...

Thats how I learn: Mess something up and try to fix it. I already got several VCRs on my concience :p.

Weaaddar: Thx alot...
I usually releases all of my models/skins after completion to the public.. If they aren't too simple (recolourings). The pack will prolly be done soon, but It will prolly be in the skins/model section of the site later on.

Skyquake:Yeah I'll do that.. To much grunt and to much detail prolly... ;)

Heyo, sorry I been gone for a bit, but classes just started so I've been a tad busy. Anyway, All things considered Korgath, you Probably should have gone with the blade master as the Barbarian in the first place, their body types are more similar then the grunt. Gust my Opinion anyway, and most people who played Barbs used swords so...

I think its a fun idea, if you can remove some of the harsh shadows around his face it will really help to make him look more humanish. But I am surprised you used the grunt model, he's big and beefy but I would have thought that the bladmaster model would lend him self better to being a barbarian.

About the Grunt use: Yeah, but I wanted an axe and was kinda tired of the blademaster skin, since I was making some of em at that time.. Ill look at the BM.. Since I have to redo the portrait anyway, I'll might just shift...

BTW, please gimme advice about the other selected models.. I wouldn't want to change another change.. :)
