making a map STAY night or day?

I changed the map settings but time still passes normally...how can I freeze up time to make it forever night or day?

The time settings in the map preferences are only how the map looks in the editor, how dark or light it is. You can edit the time easily through triggers. Just look through the game triggers, there are a lot of triggers to control game time there. Other than that, I'm not sure if you can do it.

I think he is doing it by trigger. Go to Game - Set time of day to 24 (midnight I believe). Then, go to Game - Turn off Time of Day cycle. Or something like that.
