Hallo, I don't like the Rifflemen and tryed to replace him by the HighElvenArcher. I opend War3.x with winMPQ. I opend the txt. file Units\HumanUnitFunc.txt [hbar] Trains=hfoo,hrif,hkni Researches=Rhde,Rhan,Rhri Art=ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons\BTNHumanBarracks.blp Buttonpos=1,0 BuildingSoundLabel=BuildingConstructionLoop LoopingSoundFadeIn=512 LoopingSoundFadeOut=512 Specialart=Objects\Spawnmodels\Human\HCancelDeath\HCancelDeath.mdl Attachmentanimprops=medium Now, I tryed to modyfy the line: Trains = hfoo,nhea,hkni (nhea is the HighElvenArcher) By loading a map in warcraft III i get an error message and the game stops working. Can you help me ? Is there an other way to replace the Riflemen with the Archer, without using the Warcraft editor ? Thanks, Superbisaflor |

Why don't you want to use the editor? And you do know that changing the files in your MPQ will cause desyncs, right? |

do not edit war3.mpq or war3x.mpq! edit the war3patch.mpq this and war3local.mpq are the only files where the game doesn't crash. |

Why'd you use .txt editing? Just use the wold editor to change what units it builds. BTW, are you trying to do this in mutliplayer?? Cuz that definitely won't work. Although you *might* be able to change the model file of the Rifleman in the war3.mpq so that it looks to you like you have archers, but that may screw some stuff up. NEVER edit ANYTHING in the war3x.mpq or the war3.mpq!!! And if you do, do it on backup copies, not the real thing! It would be programed so you couldn't change it or something... cuz then you could have the town hall make chims ://// |

I dont use the Warcraft III editor . The changes should take effect in the hole game and not only in one ore two maps. |

It's not possible. Like I said, if you could just go in and edit what units they produce, you could set Chimaeras to build at the Town Hall, or on Farms. It's NOT POSSIBLE to do that in multiplayer, except maybe it ur doing something like the ToR project, which is beyond the abilities of most people I'd think. AND DON"T EVER EDIT STUFF IN WAR3.MPQ!!! And why don't you use the World Editor?! |

I think you should rethink your whole idea, Superbisaflor. Even if you succeed at this, there's the whole issue of balane. Also, the new unit is not going to be affected by Human upgrades. You don't like riflemen in your singleplayer game (because that's the only thing that will be affected)? No offense, but tough. |

USE WINMPQ extract the archer model and texture rename them to units\human\rifleman\rifleman.mdx and units\human\rifleman\rifleman.blp then add them to the war3patch.mpq |

you probably never updated your warcraft - just click on "battle.net" and it will update to 1.12 - than you've a war3patch.mpq |
