I've decided to start on a map called Brutal Brawl. It is a great deal like the old dueling games where you mash the control pad, but with a new instrument to mash. It will support 8 players, 2 of which will duel in each round. A game of 2 people will be strictly dueling to gain points. A game of 3 will result in 1 person observing each time, but 2 fighting for points. The observer will fight the winner every round for points. A game of 4 will result in 2 people dueling every round and 2 people betting. A bet won will give points to the winner. The fighters still gain points by being victorious. A game of 4-8 are pretty much the same. Controls will include: Jump Attack Block (Possibly) Secondary/Special Attack Movement via arrow keys There are the universal combo's (such as uppercuts) that all classes can execute with the correct key-mashing. Others, such as Collapse, will only be available to a certain class. (Collapse belongs to the Seismator) There are 4 classes based on the rudimentary elements: Earth, Fire, Water, and Lightning. Each has strengths and weaknesses. Lightning is the most agile. Earth is the slowest. The arena is shaped like a big square. The cliffsides are steep and go down into lava pits. A region covers the arena floor, and if exited, will result in a cinematic of death and a win-by-default for the non-dead fighter. Holding true to old tekken-style games, the camera will be from the side mostly. It zooms in and out as the players move about the arena and stays oriented to the fight. Observers will have the option of 6 different cameras. 1: Top-down 2-5: Corners 7: SmartCams Smartcams are the cameras that keep track of the fight like old tekken games. There will be two, one for each side, for the observers. So, what do you think of this idea? |

I agree. good ambition, but in the end will probably be bad results. RTS = RTS. RTS != Tekken Style |

i dont doubt it can be done well, but a fighting game on the keyboard would be very hard to do well Quote:

RTS != Tekken style, but isn't the challenge what drives mappers? Anyways, I've almost got the smartcams working... Lets get a few more votes... 3 is good and all, but at the time of this posting there are 140 people online. |

If you can actually get it to work right, it might have some potential to be a good game, but with the attention span of the average BNet user, don't count on it becoming popular. P.S.: Yeah, get used to that. The Average poll has about 10 Votes by the time it gets 200 views. |

Remember about Arrow keys delay....... |

Yarr. I won't be using many unit : Issue Order commands, which is the lagging issue. Most of it will be done with instant moving and animation actions. I pretty much have the smart-cam worked out right now. |
