The Community Contest rules have been placed online, marking the official start of the contest. The contest deadline has been set for December 31st 11:59pm GMT -6. Please make yourselves known in the Team Gathering Forums if you plan on participating. You may also direct any further questions you may have about this contest into that forum. We will be posting the team registry application within the next few days. After registering your team you will receive a private sub-forum. Do not forget to read the RULES. Good luck, and by all means have fun. |

There's a 50% of chance that people vote for the popular guy rather than the best project. Add a rule like this, Advertising is not tolerated. Also remind user in the voting poll this: This is not a popularity contest. The goal of the private forum is this so dont scrap this by showing everything in the normal forum. If another team saw somthing in your campaign there's a possibility they copy or modify your idea then both project will have a low score for originality. PS: I wont participate since Im in a major project (heroRPG). I want and most user here want me to release the project the sonner possible(after beta testing). |

Yeah, i have to agree, there will be people that vote just because they like the team members not the content of the map. However if if u made a rule like that there would still be people voting on the "most liked" team. :nono: |

Wait a minute. If I started my campaign a month ago then I can't participate?! :bgrun: Or I'll have to destroy my project and re-register?! ://// It's a very strange rule. |

What about maximum campaign file size? Is there a max? And can you have a custom mpq? |

There is a 90% chance that people vote for people that they see alot in the forums. That is why the most popular mods are the ones that has high status admins in them. |

I dont think we can stop this from becoming a popularity contest. BUT, atleast if a popular person makes a shitty campaign, they cant win, because they will die to the judges. The winner of this is gonna have to be able to design a campaign on the level of the orc campaign from tft. Do that, and you might just win. Then again, inovative ideas are always going to be a real plus. And just as a note: Making use of regular units as well as heroes is also something you wanna try to do. Ive seen a lot of games where it only has a hero running around killing things that are skinned to look cool. That probably isnt gonna win this contest, unless something goes horribly wrong. And not letting them know who made what would be great. The few things that would possibly stop a popularity contest would be: No advertising. This makes it to where a team of regular users isnt beat out by an admin who uses all their power to show their campaign. No early releases. This means that they make one release to the public, and cant say "well its beta so..." because that lets them change the map if something isnt liked. Can't tell anyone what campaign you made. This means that you cant say to a friend "yea i made that one" and get their vote for it. Maybe this could even get you expelled from the contest. Those arent rules though, they are just my ideas. Maybe someone will like em, but then again im sure there are precautions against these things already. |

We could do that but... If you were to recruit people you cant post the name of the project or anything related to that. I think it should just be done by admins and mods. |

i totally disagree on this being a popularity contest. people will look at the screenshots from all the mods, and based on what they see they will download the ones they want to play. from that they will decide what they want to vote for. furthermore, i dont think any of the staff have the talent to win this anyway. it will take some outside art and writing help to win. the only way a staff member is going to win this is as a part of a largely foriegn team (foriegn to wc3c). |

I agree with Mindless and |]arkone, half of the people are just going to vote on the people making the campaign. Tirias |

You don't have to register yet. I think that people SHOULD know which campaigns are made by whom, because it does help you build a name for yourself. :D |

why would people vote for a person in a campagin, thats just a silly idea, if say a well known guy makes an average campaign, then a newish person makes an outstanding campaign, i think we will know if its for popularity, and besides i trust this forum and all its members to vote on what they think is good. Besides why think like that in the first place, this is for fun u make a campaign which is fun, get **** loads of FREE advertising when its compelete thus making ur team known, and a possible $1000 usd in your back pocket why the hell is there any need to complain lol :ggani: |
