Cookie is the only one I know who has done it, so you would need to ask him for specifics. The basic procedure is: 1) Download gmax from discreet: http://www.discreet.com/products/gmax/ 2) Download the Dungeon Siege Tool Kit from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/games/dungeonsiege/6a.asp 3) Download the latest version of 'DeX. The beta version is available through IRC (irc.irchighway.net #dex). 4) Open the Dungeon Siege model you want to port in gmax. 5) Export it to listener using 'DeX (consult the 'DeX Readme for export details). 6) Open listener (F11), and copy and paste the data printed there into a new .mdl file. 7) Convert this MDL file into an MDX file using Yobguls File Converter. This will only convert the model portion. You will have to find out how to convert the textures for those to work. If you can get them into TGA format, then you can convert them using a program like Image Extractor II. |
